The Start of the End

Disney+ is a couple of months away from launch and I'm just sitting here wondering if this means an end to Movie Cinema. I know Disney has announced a lot of projects scheduled for the next 2 years to be released in Cinemas but we still don't know how long it will take for their movies to be made available on their platform. What if they decide to release them on both platforms (Cinemas and Disney+) at the same time? Will you choose to go to the Cinema or you'd just enjoy it at the comfort of your home in your 4K TV and $7 per month Disney+ account?

I'm sure in the next coming years we'll see a lot of movie production companies venturing into their own streaming services or signing contracts with leading streaming service companies. Disney has already absorbed 20th Century Fox, another big movie production company which means their movies will also be featured on Disney+. Sony already has a streaming platform (Crackle). Who's next? Warner Bros with their WarnerMedia streaming service.

As eye(I) see it Video Streaming services to cinemas is what Music streaming services were to CDs. Buying a CD is now a matter of choice rather than "I have to buy (artist) CD to listen to his music". So going to the Cinema will be a matter of choice rather than a must (Atleast it won't be so until we have 3D and IMAX technology at home and such content is streamable).

Then the issue of Academy Awards, Steven Spielberg expressed his concern at the Oscars earlier this year and everyone overlooked it. Does that mean Emmys and Oscars will be the same thing now? 'Cause the experience of watching a movie in the Cinema is very different from watching it in your house. One of it and a major one are the number of distractions. I think it's about time we invest in our very own home theater rooms. I've seen some interesting ones here

So what's it gonna be? Will the future generation not know of Cinemas same way we never experienced intermissions 'cause 00's movies suddenly had a runtime <2hours? Well it's a wait and see situation
