Mr. Director and Tummy Cramps Week 1 Challenge - Movie Review (Chasing The Dragon)
Hey guys, this is my first entry for a new contest called the "Mr. Director and Tummy Cramps" challenge.
Original contest: https://steemit.com/funny/@perennial/mr-director-and-tummy-cramps-week-1-challenge
It will be a rather short review and I'll be reviewing the movie "Chasing The Dragon". I watched it at GSC Melaka a couple of days ago.
Story
There may be some spoilers.
This movie was actually based on a real life gangster Ng Sek-Ho (Crippled Ho) and the story was set in Hong Kong, during the British colonisation. What tempted me to watch the movie was obviously Donnie Yen, acting as Crippled Ho, and Andy Lau as a corrupt police officer (Lee Rock).
If I can summarize the whole movie, it's basically on how Crippled Ho (who wasn't crippled at first) entered the drug trafficking trade together with his close buddies thanks to his friendship with Lee Rock, and how it all panned out.
I did say the review is going to be short right?
Reasons you should watch the movie
Donnie Yen spoke Hokkien with his buddies. What? First time listening to Hokkien from him and it was amusing!
Politics among drug traffickers. It's was interesting to see how they played each other out and eliminated them out of the "game". I think this was what the movie was mainly about, but it wasn't boring despite the long screen time.
To see how Hong Kong used to be (at least as depicted in the movie). So much drugs, corruption, prostitution and violence.
Bromance between Crippled Ho and his buddies (including Lee Rock).
- Overall it's quite an entertaining movie and I think it's slightly above 2 hours. I would definitely recommend this movie to others!
Reasons why you shouldn't watch this movie
They crammed everything into one movie
You don't like seeing movies with violence
You're not into Chinese movies
GSC has no promotion
You can wait for it to be shown on TV
That's about it and I'll give it a 7.8/10. Thanks for reading guys!

Nice effort and nice result.
Oh, what a review!!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks man!
I really miss Andy Lau's movies
I don't usually watch Cantonese shows. But this was easily one of the best movies in 2017! Was so heart broken when Piggy died :(
Ah Piggy was awesome..
