Jen’s Movie Review #17- Flatliners
While entering the cinema, my friend said to me: “Our movie tickets if we were to accumulate the value, we can buy a designer handbag”.
I replied: “Handbagssssss!.. count the popcorn too” hahaha.
That’s movie of my life basically. No off day without the trip to the cinema. The nearest one is only 3KM away and there are cinemas every 5km or so.
OK in this 17th episode of Movie Review, I’m going to review a movie called “Flatliners”.

Verdict
3.5/5
Flatliners 2017 is a remake movie from 1990’s starring a young cast (at the time) of Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and Kiefer Sutherland that are big names today. When I watched the movie, I can’t help it by comparing it to “Final Destination” franchise. Although both stories are quite different, both were about messing with death— but this movie has more wisdom than Final Destination.
It is not a ghost story
Contrary to the trailer, it is not a ghost story rather than playing tricks with these ghosts imagination. Thus, the trailer can be deceiving to watch particularly if you had not watched the original movie.
The movie has a good concept that can bring the audience to the cinema—which is ‘What happens during the afterlife?”. It’s a great question to tackle and to raise the question in people’s head—making people coming to see the movie and was hoping for a scary scenes. My bad actually as of now that I’m writing this, I checked to see the movie promo and saw it listed under Drama/Horror/Science Fiction.
Good Life Lessons
The movie, however, provides a good life lesson about forgiving yourself and to take accountability for your mistakes. It also shows you the life of a medical student struggling at one of the best medical Hospital.
Remember her from "Inception"?
Not Exactly a Must-see Movie
If this is a horror movie, I think it falls short in that department. If it is a science fiction movie, then, you won’t be impressed. There is nothing special here besides some scary ghost lurking behind the character’s back that will definitely make you scream—and that is all, nothing more.
Other movies that I watched:
Tombiruo: Penuggu Rimba
I also blogged about health:
World Mental Health Day
Or on a fine day, I go for an adventure or travel:
