Movie Review: Ready Player One (2018) No steem in 2045? Literaly unwatchable

Today's question is: Can orgy of pop culture references could make a movie?

Well.. Kinda...

Ready Player One is directed by one of the most visionary director of our time Steven Spielberg. For the cast movie serves us Tye Sheridan as lead role, for supporting roles Olivia Cooke, Simon Pegg, T.J. Miller and for generic bad guy Ben Mendelsohn which portrais a rich evil dude named generic genericson. So in hindsight not a bad crew. But crews doesnt matters much because movie is %90 CGI and leaves almost no room for acting.

Evil guy doing evil thing in a very evil place

Story takes place in a futuristic dystopia in 2045. Humanity faces several major problem in daily life butchooses to ignore with a futuristic vr machine where we spend most of our free time in a world called OASIS. After creater of this world dies he releases a video in which he challenges all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg which is his shares of the company he created with his partner. As you can guess shares and control of OASIS worths billions and billions dollar. To be absolutely honest rest of the movie feels like any other young adult/fantasy movie out there.

A parentless boy meets girl, boy achives something big nobody else done before, boy and girl falls in love AFTER 3 HOUR THEY SPEND TOGETHER. Evil corporate guy does evil things for money. Boy overcomes all obstacles and saves the heroine. They live happly ever after.

Mr. Stark, ı dont feel so good about this movie

Because of not having an interesting story, not having a room for acting because of all that CGI, movie feels empty. And becomes a youtube rewind video where we watch references for 2 hour. I will not lie, spotting random characthers from your childhood or see them interact with each other is kinda fun.

There are couple plot holes in the movie. For example in a 2 hour movie which takes place in a VR world ı didnt even see a single meme or pepe the frog avatar.
REEEEEEEEEEE did EU realy bans the memes in future? Or we doesnt see any north korean hacker group trying to hack the system in glorious Kim Jong-Un avatars.

If you look under your seats you'l see no memes!

But after all that slamming the movie my final thoughts are: Go watch it. You'L probably like it. We are on a crypto currency based web site after all. What are the odds of a person not liking very futuristic techy movie while being a bloger on a this kind of website.
