near the town of Nikiski Alaska.
The oil refinery and docks are here.
You can see a couple of the many
drilling rigs out in the Cook inlet.
Mt Spurr
is a volcano, one of many
in a line down the inlet.

Yep them are oil rigs. I got a photo without them lol
There are a number of them around the inlet and state.
Are those oil rigs in that pristine environment? That sucks....
Yeppers, they have multi suction, sideways drilling.
There is quite a few of them throughout the inlet
and state.

It seems to be real good around the volcanoes
from the dikes and sills. Volcanic plumbing
stretching out quite a ways from the central
cone zone. At this beach is the best across
from Mt Redoubt and Spurr. I think
your agates are way more cool tho! lol

howdy there shasta! wow I didn't know ya'll have oil rigs out in the bay way up there, I can't imagine how cold that would be in the winter! But anyway, that's a truly magnificent photo!

They do get a good view out there, but sure wouldn't want to see
how icy they get lol Helicopters take the crew back and forth.
Sometimes you can hear the rigs humming.
Quite a bit of oil/gas stuff going on.
hi shasta! I remember hearing years ago that your state sends everyone a check each year as part of the profits for all the oil, is that still going on or is that even true?
It's called the PFD
You need to live here two years, use to be one year.
Paperwork is involved, not automatic. Can't leave the
state for to long and some other hoops and circles to
put a X in the box lol
howdy shasta! Ok so they're still doing it but you have to apply for it and jump through some hoops and then it automatically comes each year I assume so it's a good deal. That's good to hear. Too bad other states don't have a profit that they can share with people. Well Texas does but they don't share.
