What I learned from having a rep of -6

in #motivation8 years ago

I realized that chasing money on Steemit is a very good way to waste your time. This platform is for sharing great content with each other.
I also learned that I should be grateful for what I have - you never know what you have till you lose it. Having your posts invisible and your opinions unheard is a terrible downer, I view #Steemit as a platform to share my thoughts with friendly, intelligent and understanding people , so being unheard was a horrible thing for me.
Another lesson that I got was, that if you apologize for doing wrong, it will get you much further than you might think.
I also learned that the whales truly care about us little people, they helped me up even tho they had no reason to do so, could have left me crying all over steem.chat lol.
Did you have a similar experience ? What have you learned from Steemit ?

Please share this post and don't forget to reply - I'd love to hear from you ! :)

Hi,
I didn't have the same experience as you. What I had was unability to change a post's category (as I didn't know the first tag was the category that will never be changed), my post ended up in an unsuitable category, so I rewrote it in a new category and got a warning from cheetah :). I intended to delete the first post but that was not possible as people had already up voted it, neither could I edit it (to empty it). I learned that I should have considered my tags more carefully and read the white paper :). Glad you could make it back ;).

Yes, sadly us newbies aren't familiar with the way Steemit works and make these kinds of mistakes. Thankfully sometimes an apology is enough :)

I totally agree with you

Of course the whales care :)
The more 'real' people on steemit, the better for everyone. I'm sure most misunderstandings are forgiven, it's a place for opinion AND opposing opinions, it's not a platform for oppression.

Yes, sadly sometimes whales judge too quickly or don't pay attention and flag posts without seeing the bigger picture. Rep could use a different system not based on steem power, so every upvote counts :) It's sad to see that a 100 upvotes won't help if there aren't any whales in that 100.

I wish the wales would notice me I have been writing my little heart out and Im dyslexic so its tough hahahaha

Hi! This post has a Flesch-Kincaid grade level of 7.6 and reading ease of 74%. This puts the writing level on par with Tom Clancy and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

-6 to 6 great job, learning, motivation and all! Goes to show a low rating is okay and raise-able. Guess the negative rating is a way to let one know one is doing something wrong and needs to find a better way.

Yes, it's a way , it could use some upgrades, but it's really fresh - time will tell what happens .

I have earned nothing but am enjoying reading posts and finding out about people so I suppose it is not all bad.

Well keep trying - get involved with the community = post, comment upvote, people will notice your efforts and you will be rewarded :)

Keep up the good work 👍🏾

Glad you could get your rep back! I got some inspiration from you, and, you did not flag me for my English - I appreciate that ) I t would be sad to see you disappearing.

Wow people flagged you for bad English ? You speak english pretty good, english isn't my main language, so I can't judge other foreigners on their. It's the effort that matters. :)

No, of course nobody did that ) it is just that in your introduction post you said you are grammar-nazi , that's why I had reason to worry)

Haha yeah, I try to keep my grammar nazism down, I usually only correct people whose maing language is english. And mistakes in a post isn't a reason to flag someone, I would only write a comment pointing out the most common mistakes. Usually just correct my real life friends haha and thanks for checking my other posts out :)
