Delay Gratification Until You really make it.
Gratification is defined as the pleasure gained especially after fulfilling a desire. Everyone has in one way or the order felt this sensation before. From kids to adults, everyone has indulged themselves into something that gives them joy and most likely have become addicted to it. But the truth is whatever we become fond of, eventually sticks with us. So as children grow into teenagers, most parents become worried about things like the company they keep( which pays a major role in deciding the kind of adult, the teen will turn out to be. )

One thing most people overlook is when to reward ourselves as we delve into adulthood. As soon as the first salary is paid, we tend to party hard with our friends and by the time we realize, all the money is gone and we still have many days ahead till next months income sets in. Now, to be able to live through the rest of the days, we go in for loans or we start to borrow with interest from friends and families. As I started earlier, these are habits formed during our teenage and it can get better or worse depending on the type of people we call friends.

Now, the best way to live as I have come to see, is to delay gratification for as long as you can. During this process of sacrificing the good times, you'll have to do something worthwhile with your money and time. You'll have to do this for a while until you feel like you can quit your regular job and still love the life of your dreams and here is a few tips on how you start.
1. You may have to give up on a lot of your friends. When you decide to focus on yourself, you become a selfish individual to some friends. Those people need to go and don't be afraid to show them the exit.
2. Have a budget. This will save you a boat load of money. If you keep buying stuff you've planned for, there is a great chance of you saving money and not end up buying stuff you most probably will hate later.
3. Find a couple of things you see potential in and invest a portion of your time and money in. Maybe, it won't make you money now but know that your grandchildren may benefit from it too.
It's very hard when you try to go after the best but eventually, it becomes worth the wait. That's the world we live in now. Delay gratification for as long as you can and use that period to make sure your future will be better.
This reminds me of a question my high school principal used to ask us a lot, would you suffer today and enjoy tomorrow or enjoy today and suffer tomorrow.
There's a limit to today but tomorrow is infinite and so it's our decision whether we're going to waste all we have today or save what we have for tomorrow.

Great post. Immediate gratification is a worse drug than heroin and crystal meth. It does not kill - it zombifies, creates living dead.
Although it is important to check from time to time wether the gratification (whatever it may be - money, status...) is reachable or one of the modern hoaxes to fool young adults into working for exploiters.
