Take that DAMN risk!

in #motivation8 years ago

As kids, we all have heard the saying 'Fortune favors the bold.' Well, it is time you take it as advice, at face value!

We are talking about how taking risks has become a necessity in the times that we live in. Yes, it always feels good playing safe, knowing there won't be any negative consequences to your actions; the assurance is undeniably tempting. But, on the downside, you may be missing out on a lot! So here's listing some valid reasons as to why you must start taking risks in life:

Risks initiate change

Not taking the risk means doing things the conventional way. It is where you know the end result, and you do the minimum that is needed. However, amid this ease and predictability, you end up making your skills rusty! Taking risks requires you to put in your best effort that is much needed to brush up and further polish your skills. Change is good; who knows what unforeseen, fantastic opportunity awaits you just behind that risk!

Taking risks gets you noticed

Given the current scenario, very few people exhibit the bold risk taking ability, which is appealing to everyone in the professional world, from your managers to the corporate honchos. Therefore, it is the time you develop the knack of taking calculated risks if you wish to get noticed and climb that success ladder!

Risks help set new benchmarks

Calculated risks allow you to reap the sweetest fruit of success. In this way, you can take the lead and be an excellent professional setting new benchmarks, even if you lack in experience.

Risks help you overcome failure

Taking risks can help you make the big leap, that is to overcome the fear of failure. It is this fear that is most frightening to the majority of us humans, and often it is what holds us back in life. We let go of opportunities fearing that we wouldn't be successful and later have such regrets for life. If you don't wish to have this sorry story as a part of your life, get up and take risks. You may not always win, but you will always learn. And that will help you grow.

Taking risks gives you a sense of freedom, and it can be addictive!
Once you begin taking risks, you explore your hidden potential and being successful is without a doubt inspiring. The experience transforms you into a person who wants to better himself/herself; you love the new you and the sense of being free. If you ace this talent, oh you will be addicted to it and to the success that comes along!

Quit my job without a backup. I know it goes against conventional wisdom, however, my mental well-being was at stake. The constant panic attacks and anxiety that was environmentally induced for the past 2 years was enough. Outside of some concerns with money, it allowed me to hustle to make cash on the side and network with others for a different line of work. And now, I'll be starting a new job, with better pay. I feel if I didn't do this, the vicious cycle would still be the same and I would be miserable at a crappy job.

That is smart! I was on the same boat, But luckily I had multiple side hussles for the last year or so that have grown to support me fairly well. It's good you got a better job, Having your mental well being at stake is never good.

Thank you everyone

Taking risks is a great way to learn, grow and gain Strength. Lovely post @kaylinart :) :3

So true heheh! Thank you.

I took a big risk on Bitcoin in late 2012 and I didn't even need a helmet. :p

Nice read btw.

Wow nice job!! I wish I jumped on Bitcoin but It didn't make any sense to me.

I finished my MA this year to become a language teacher at high school level, but it is now or never for my music career, so I am going all in with that. It's scary as hell, especially now that I have to rely on Steem Dollars to stay alive! :p

Aww nice!! That would be hard to survive off of only Steem dollars. But Good luck with your new career :)

Always enjoy your posts @kaylinart. Need to step up, only have two posts today to your three! :-)

Even though I'm a scaredycat I guess I've had my fair share of risks. Years ago I left a "really good" career because I despised being a cubicle jockey. It was the same job that moved me to FL a year earlier even though I didn't know a single soul in the state. No network, no job....not my best plan, but kind of worked out awesome!

Hehe YOu do need to step it up hehe!!

Thats good it worked out! What happened with all of that anyways?

P.S. - I like putting tags to your other posts of the day in their, smart yet still tasteful because it's just today's work. May use that going forward.

Here is the first post in my real estate series from today (it's more of an intro)

As for how all that worked out. Well, it's a story for sure, a good buddy of mine keeps telling me to write a book about my life, hahaha. Guess it'd make for good posts.

Thank you for sharing this with me! I'll be sure to check it out.
What do you mean about the tags? sorry I'm confused.

Haha...I meant the links to your other posts from today. :-)

I totally agree with your vision (another reason I love Steemit)

I wrote a featured article on @crazymumzysa's blog the other day and after reading your article, what I have in my mind is

"Everything is taking an ugly turn at some point and your decisions may not be the best, but your capability of overcoming situations is what remains. Over time, everything gets easier. Stay focused!”

Thanks for a great read!

Thank you ! I love this quote it's amazing!!

Compared to older days, kids now are more adventurous then ever.
