Hacks To Start Creating Value In Others Lives

in #motivation8 years ago

I didn’t think I had any value to add until I learned that I could increase the value to anyone’s life.

One of the biggest advantages of giving advice to people constantly is that you build a network of individuals who trust your input.

And when you are a trusted advisor, people refer their friends who refer their friends and so on. However, getting to that level requires hard work.

Have you ever heard of the Bible verse ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?’

To achieve success in all areas of life, it’s important to strive and create greater, unique value for others. So how do you get started? Here are a few ways I have found are quite effective for adding value in another person’s life.

Listen

Listening, and not just hearing, is a very powerful thing as it allows one to learn more about others. I have also discovered that listening and asking questions is a great way of showing genuine interest in someone else other than me. People value, respect and appreciate those who can listen to and respond to their emotions.
These days people are so caught up on their cell phones, the TV and other problems in their lives. Listening has become a treasured quality in a human being. If you show you can listen, You open doors to many things with that person.
Everyone likes to talk about themselves. Just give it a break for a while and let someone else talk about themselves.

Innovation is love

People are motivated by varied reasons, none of which is yours. The deepest need that everyone has is self-esteem, which refers to the sense of being valuable or rather necessary. Understanding that everything I do with others affects their self-esteem in one way or rather has helped me know how to satisfy that very need.
While self-esteem is each own individual responsibility, it doesn't hurt to try to help it.
One way to boost the self-esteem of another is by letting them help you when you get into trouble. You may not want to have help, Or you feel you don't deserve it, but one thing I learned by reading the work of Harv Eker is "When you deny someone the ability to help you, you denied them that good feeling they could have had by helping you."
Let people help you sometimes!

Lead as a servant

If you are a leader, you must learn to serve others. I honestly think that there is no greater calling in life than serving others because this gives you unlimited opportunities to add value to their lives in multiple ways. So do your best-serving others, both inside and outside work. If someone needs help, Help them! Even if its' something small like yard work. It creates a tremendous amount of value.

Good leaders help others; I had a supervisor at one job, who was incredible. He did everything he could to help his coworkers and his employees. As a result, people adored him and wanted to work hard for him! At the same time, people saw and respected him as the leader he needed to be.

Same reality, different perceptions

There is no harm is continually dedicating time to finding more ways to help others.
You see, there are a thousand ways to kill a rat. At least that’s how I think the saying goes. But at the end of the day, the important thing is to understand that any one situation can be dealt with in different ways. As such, you should never tire to look for new solutions that will help those around you.

Anticipate needs

There is no better way to add value than to anticipate needs. This requires knowing someone else and paying attention. It feels exhilaratingly good to have someone turn up at the right moment and offer to help without having to ask for help. Don’t wait to be asked. Simply buy flowers for that friend of yours or spouse who has had a few difficult days, or gets their car detailed. Small actions go a long way in helping add value to other people’s lives and consequently yours.

Assist them to connect: If a friend is looking for a roofing contractor, a nanny, hell a career advisor, help them connect if you have the necessary contacts.

We all have needs and dreams we intend to fulfill and joining your friends and acquaintances is one step towards achieving their goals.

Are you familiar with the work of James Altucher? He often says that if you want to have something, Then help someone else get it first, Then you'll get it.
"If you want a million dollars, Help someone else make a million dollars"
"If you want a puppy, Help someone else get a puppy"

Sort:

Love Altucher's take on the universe, it's always fresh, strong and educational. Completely agree that many successful people discover the path to meaningful success is helping others get where they want to be. But I have to say, based on my personal life experience, the majority of wealth in the world today was gained at the expense of others. Wealth is a zero-sum game so this is a bit pedantic, but it seems the vast majority of wealth has skeletons in the closet. It's just how the system works. Until the blockchain showed up. ;)

I agree!
It really sucks that wealth is because of the expense of others, And I feel that this is something that we need to change, and James Altucher is also trying to change to make this world a better place.

I know that by providing value and helping others will absolutely get you more friends. And with networking you may actually get what you want that way.

I would even go so far as to say Steemit is the first time wealth is being created and distributed without violence or 'taking from others'. This is a big part of Dan's philosophy and I think he's pulled it off.

Now that I think of it, it sounds really true! That is scary! I'm so glad Steemit exists.

Me too. Will be interesting see what happens when/if Steemit goes viral and grows to the point it starts to threaten the existing power structures... Funding alternate media outlets and securing both income and wealth for groups/individuals that do not accept the status quo. The rabbit hole is deep!

Stunning statement, Kaylin! Especially agree about leadership! A leader is one who works more than everyone else. He is the leader. In our time the common image of the leader is somewhat different. Usually is the one who lives at the expense of others, because he is stronger. And therefore, there are various ideas of anarchy.

In any community there will always be a leader. It's just a law of nature. No matter what kind of social system. Communism, capitalism, anarchy, monarchy. Someone will always be stronger, smarter, brighter. The problem is not in the social order, the problem is a rotten leader.

I believe that the problems of modern society can be solved only through education of true leaders who lead the people in a spirit of service. So my dream is reform of the education system. The creation of new schools.

So true!! I love your comment!
We need better leaders that would change everything!

I really enjoyed your advices on how to give back. Listening is a great problem for many of us. The James Altucher seems intriguing, similar to karma I guess.
