I used to feel a certain level of obligation also. It is liberating to know on a deep level that you can walk away from toxic situations and people.
This is very basic! Should be taught in school, aye?
But I suppose if all these things (like this) were instilled in us at a young age, we would have nothing to learn to better ourselves...
I am of full belief that one only begins growing old when they stop learning. And when they stop having an open mind for new ideas and concepts. So with this being said, I suppose not being taught the basics as a child set's us up for a long, young life!
Indeed. I think we're taught the very opposite in school, where we're forced to sit for hours and listen to people in authority talk about things that might not interest us. If we were truly aware of our freedom, we would politely excuse ourselves (or not), get up and leave.
But you're right, life is a journey of self-discovery (and that word means we must learn about ourselves, not have someone teach us).
