Metaponto is an important seaside resort in my region, Basilicata.
The one you see in the picture is the "Porta di Pitagora".
The Pythagorean gate is a particular iron sculpture located on the waterfront in the Alessidamo square of Metaponto.
The sculpture is dedicated to the famous Greek philosopher Pythagoras.

Metaponto is, in fact, the place where Pythagoras lived for a few years and is also the place where he died.
Pythagoras was also an important mathematician and his theorem: the Pythagorean Theorem is studied and known all over the world.
As you can see from the following photo, the famous Pythagorean Theorem is the main part of the sculpture.

Metaponto è una importante località balneare della mia regione, la Basilicata.
Quella che vedete in foto è la "Porta di Pitagora".
La porta Pitagorica è' una particolare scultura in ferro situata sul lungomare nella piazza Alessidamo di Metaponto.
La scultura è dedicata al famoso filosofo greco Pitagora.

Metaponto è, infatti, il luogo dove Pitagora ha vissuto per alcuni anni ed è anche il luogo dove è morto.
Pitagora è stato anche un importante matematico e l'inventore del Teorema di Pitagora.
Come puoi vedere dalla foto seguente il famoso Teorema di Pitagora è la parte principale della scultura.
