Melancholy monochrome lake

Lake Buyan or Danau Buyan as the locals call it, is relatively quiet compared to its more 'attractive' and well-known neighbour, Danau Beratan (Bratan) of Bedugul, Bali.

It is also its calm and peaceful surroundings that kinda make this lakeside scene a little more melancholy, especially in the gloomy cloudy weather when we visited it.

Amidst a light drizzle, there was hardly anyone around when we stood by the lakeside and enjoyed a mid-strength cool wind that blew across the lake
Due to the dry weather, the lake was dry around the sides with the water receded quite a bit, hence this scene with some bamboo structures left high and dry away from watersedge

Danau Buyan together with Danau Tamblingan are known as the twin lakes, separated by a kilometre of rainforest and together with Danau Bratan are actually three lakes formed within a large caldera!

Over-looking Danau Buyan is this solitary structure of the Pura Ulun Danu Buyan or the Lake Buyan temple

Being in a rather secluded spot, the atmosphere around the temple complemented the calm and peaceful surroundings of the lake, which added to the seemingly overall melancholy mood
Some darkening clouds and wisps of smoke from a nearby smouldering garden fire complete the scene
