Why you should SEO?

SEO, we've all probably heard it by now, but what is SEO? Search Engine Optimization, in other words, How do I get on Google!? I have expressed the importance of building an internet presence for yourself, maybe your business, and briefed on the marketing ability of social media, but now we have to talk about the expensive part, SEO.

the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine.

Where can I find SEO?

There are about two ways most people approach search engine optimization, build it yourself or have it done for you. Building SEO yourself can be a difficult task, but you see a very nice reward from it. This involves knowing how to back link your content, what can be considered optimal to Google's constant changing policies, always staying up to par with Google's requirements (or any other search engine for the matter), and making sure the content on your website does not become stale. There are few guides you can find online that go into detail with how to successfully market and SEO websites, so unfortunately, most people fall under the second option.

Building SEO for you

There are many companies out there that will promise you SEO, but you are going to have to fork out some money, and it can usually be a few hundred dollars to market your website, so who can you trust? These days, most website hosting services have an option or at least a recommendation for an SEO marketing team, so they should always be your first point of contact. Never trust the ones you receive in your email, we're all familiar with spam, and believe me, the website hosting world is full of it. These guys are salesmen as well, so anticipate that. Keep in mind though, your SEO is only as aggressive as you pay for it, and if you're in a competitive world. To simply put, paying for SEO for your law firm in New York City, is going to cost way more than a plumber in Amarillo, Texas. It's time to build a strategy for your online presence.

What to expect

As you develop your internet presence more, SEO will establish ranking results for you in search engine searches. Google your business name, and you will begin to notice it is not as buried in the results. This is the most important part, because this is when you can see your business is being marketed more than your competitor, which will bring more volume to your website, and this equates to more possible business. The more business you bring in to keep you busy, the more money you bring in. An extra customer or two can pay off your SEO fees, and watch it build from there.

In the simplest terms, this is why SEO for your website is so important. Don't build a website and neglect to market your website and be frustrated that your website is not bringing more volume in, instead, go have a conversation about what SEO can do for you, and give it a shot.
