How STEEM will solve global inequality

in #money8 years ago (edited)

A while back I came across a brilliant post:

"The high level of economic inequality seen in the world today is surpassing that of nearly 100 years ago, when European colonial rule, regressive tax policies and unregulated financial activities created high levels of inequality and financial instability that ultimately led to the 1929 stock market crash and the Great Depression. Considerable wealth was destroyed during the Great Depression, as well as during the second world war which followed. In the aftermath of the war in 1945, a widespread consensus had been developed which realized that the excesses of capitalism needed to be curtailed in order to prevent both fascist movements and socialist revolutions, and this consensus led governments to take concrete steps towards better systems for redistributing income in order to effectively lessen economic inequality" Rick Rowden http://www.actionaid.org/2016/01/new-policies-needed-turn-around-global-inequality

STEEM will solve these issues for principally two reasons.

  1. STEEM coin is the same for all of its users around the world. Discretionary government policy will not disadvantage some of its users. In other words, there is no privileged class of people who can benefit from currency stability to encourage more trade. A Kenyan STEEM blogger stands on an equival footing with a Norwegian one.

  2. STEEM is designed such that civility and the positive development of the community is incentivised heavily through monetary rewards. This aligns people towards a certain mindset which discourages conflict. And this homogenous stability and positivity will remove the barriers to trade that exist with people from economies plagued with division and its resulting conflict.

I feel positive about this new world, and am sure STEEM will be the driving force towards a more equitable, just and prosperous world. Where rewards can be accessed by everyone regardless of their socio-economic background!

Its certainly a test case for a universal income. Truly an exciting project which i am lucky to be apart of so early.

Isn't it? The thought that an economy can be fueled by humans interacting with each other might sound like an anarcho-psychedelic absurdity, but Steem has made this possibility very real.

Who would've thought humans being social could end poverty!

That is exactly what I realized. Never before have I given a universal basic income any thought, how does giving money away to everyone solve anything when looking at inflation. It doesn't, that's not the value, that's not the substance.

The value is the ability to self govern. We don't need to give people all the cash they need to pay their bills, we just need to give an incentive. This incentive can be lost depending on the individuals behaviour in that said society.

It's working perfectly here so far, I see no reason why the principles governing steemit's community can't be transferred and utilized in the current governmental forms or am entirely new style of society all together, perhaps one that uses crypto's :-o!

Lol A man can dream.

Yes Yes Yes !!!!!!!! No doubt this is what the world has been waiting for.

I still think we can not get it solved until we solve the early adopters privileges, it is much harder to get now steem than 2 months ago, new users can not get to the first users, it is like first bitcoin m iners getting hundred of coins easily , i think we must try to solve it if we want really fight for a universal income

Hopefully this is just growing pains.

I hope so. I like to think of it as a kind of revolution, taking back the power.

Interesting what will be with Steem in 10 years? 15 years?

A way to actually level the playing field!

There are some people who have posted a lot but not earned hardly anything. Someone in Kenya could try and post some stuff but unless someone with the big voting power upvotes him or knows a lot of people on the platform, its unlikely he will make any real money. Over the longer-term I hope this improves...

God... just imagine a more equal world for a second. Mate, I'm with you. An idealist, non-conformist dreamer (we're not the only ones).
I'm not sure if steemit is going to end up top heavy (suspect it might) but I'm all up for believing you anyway! Cheers.
