I'm Going To Stop Trying To HIT THE MONEY With SteemIt Posts!

in #money8 years ago

I saw what I feel was a super interesting #SteemIt post from a kid who wrote about how he is writing blog post after blog post trying to hit the #money on Steemit with a #winning post that rakes in the big bucks. Here's one of the quotes from his post:

"I'll keep writing these blog til i hit one on the money..."

Bad grammar and spelling aside, his post really got me thinking. I hate to admit it, but when I first stumbled onto SteemIt, I was thinking right along the same lines. I wanted the #money!

If only I could find a trending or popular topic to write about, I could either write or pay a ghost writer to write some really good content and I'll also 'hit it'.

I mean it's that what 90% of the people coming to SteemIt are thinking too, right?

We all want to make money and there's been a lot of promises thrown around regarding SteemIt riches!

I am fairly new to SteemIt but I got excited by the opportunity almost immediately and I started scheming right away how I could combine all my Internet Marketing knowledge into this new application and I too would hit it. So off I went and started posting what I thought would be either really cool content with freebies, or very trending topics.

My 1st post: An SEO Case Study based on findings from my business regarding #Schema.
Strategy: Helpful information on a highly trending topic in the SEO community.

My 2nd post: An introduction to my band, with a free download link to all our albums
Strategy: Everyone loves free shit!

My 3rd Post: Clickbaiting on a trending SteemIt post, with helpful hints on what SteemIt is.
Strategy: Clickbaiting & Trending Topics

Now all these posts were within the first 48 hours of me joining SteemIt. I'm obviously very excited by the new platform, and admittedly I do want the egotistical and financial satisfaction of writing a post that the community actually loves and rewards me for.

But each article I write I'm learning more and more about the community and starting to understand that while there are people who are writing to make money, and they are dang good at it, there are also those who just write honestly and are rewarded for that as well!

Back to the kid who tried to hit it...

If you look at the feed for user @basicstepnetwork and the post entitled "Why Steemit Is Not Paying Me", you'll see his most profitable post was actually the one where he stopped trying to make money, and just told the truth that he was trying to make money! True #irony!

But also, I've combed over hundreds of other SteemIt posts already, and I'm constantly visiting the feed categories to see what's relevant and popular and I noticed another really strong trend which is kind of like a frying pan to my head skull brain.

Truly helpful posts are the most rewarded.

So I've made a promise to myself. I'm not going to try to 'game' future posts at all especially with trends. No tactics other than the obvious stuff like tagging, etc will be used in the future.

I'm simply going to write more and more helpful posts and contribute to the community in a way that will be helpful for those who read my posts. I'll write with honesty and sincerity because I actually believe in SteemIt potential, and I believe I am in this for the long run.

Then again...this whole post could just be my new angle.

We'll see ;)

Here's a couple cents to get you on your way, lol.

@watershed I'd love to know how you transfer money to people who write useful posts :)

Appreciated!

Yeah, and less YouTube more quality writing!

Unless the Youtube videos are actually shot by the user, meaning the content is truly theirs :)

Very well said. So true!
