Accountability Standards: The Garden of Eden Daily Ledger, or How We Spend Our Freedom - 9/23/16
Building the new economy is a total blast! To uphold our own standards of transparency and accountability, we want to compile and share these production ledgers.
We released our last ledger 6 days ago.
Since then, our 12 full-time volunteers have been busy! We:
- harvested $2500 worth of food
- harvested 20 gallons of camphor leaves, several hardy plants of green shiso, and 2 wheelbarrows of lemon basil, licorice basil, lemon balm, shiso and processed them for drying
- made 150 pounds of compost
- updated our website to accept SBD in exchange for our super sustainable, beyond organic herbal smoking blends
- produced 11 custom, handmade Steemit garments
- prepared and served 625 meals to the homeless, firemen, and our guests
- made those 625 meals by burning fuel of 8 fence panels from the 825 pounds of trash we salvaged from the landfill
- invested 35 man hours in illegally feeding homeless people in downtown Fort Worth (7 hours more efficient than our last operation!)
- raised $70 from our operations
- cleared a 400 square foot plot and weeded another 200 square foot plot
- utilized 5 pounds of overripe fruit to make homemade vinegar
- took 1533 phtotos
- made 15 gallons of wine
- received a donated gallon of floor sealant, so we're a step closer to finishing the floor
- planned a full weekend of catering, a workshop, and an epic party event
- harvested greens, okra, and yellow tomatoes
- left the children for 0 hours while we had to go to work
- spent $0 on food, shelter, clothing, medicine, and entertainment
- hosted a party where we created a sustainable piñata, blew up 200 balloons, and made an 8 course feast with 5 cakes and 163 meatballs.

That's just some of what we've done in the last 5 days. It doesn't even include what we've done as individuals from making art to practicing yoga and entering the Steemit Photo Challenge!
By sharing what our small group of focused individuals are able to accomplish in a relatively short amount of time, we hope to inspire others to BE THE CHANGE they wish to see in this world!

One of the most amazing things about all of this is that everyone at the @gardenofeden is dedicating their life to be in service to humanity. We don't have "jobs", not because we don't want to work (we actually "work" nearly every moment of everyday--though we call it play as we do what we are inspired to do that serves others--not what we "have" to do to get by). We don't have jobs because there is something way better to do with our time and energy, which is to INVEST in something greater than ourselves, rather than SPEND it on making money.
To experience people who are willing to give up everything to be a part of the solution in and of itself is a blessing. Together we can do great things with dedicated clear, honorable focus. Not everyone is capable of this magnitude of giving, but we can all be a part of change by simply supporting those who are doing the work.

Yes, we dedicate all of our resources to building a healthier and more sustainable world for ALL, and we're able to accomplish so much because we aren't selling our time for undervalued wages to companies that don't support our values. All of our time is our own, and we are responsibly using it to create a better way.

I harvested Camphorweed flowers, stems and leaves, not Camphor Leaves. Camphor comes from a large evergreen tree which we do not have. Our wildcrafted Camphorweed, Latin name Pluchea Camphorata on the other hand, was harvested a lot. This plant has some amazing medicinal uses not to mention its cute pink and purple flowers are really beautiful.
The two wheelbarrows full of harvested herbs is actually an understatement. Actual Lemon Thai Basil harvesting must have been closer to about 6 wheelbarrows full. The several huge, hand carried, massive loads of Lambs Quarter wasn't even mentioned. So, as bad ass as all that was, there's more.
I harvested at least 5 pounds of salad greens and another girl probably doubled that, in addition.
The little girl's birthday party was epic and she had a blast. It cost us nothing. All the money most people spend on children's birthday parties is mind blowing.
The $70.00 raised is pretty pathetic. All the steemit-ers need to do is click to UpVote and RePost and you can be a part of the awesomeness. Be aware, this is just a sampling of what we accomplish on a regular basis. Truth is, we have done and do much, much more.
