EDIT: the price of silver at $114 per oz. in 1980 I referenced in this article is the inflationary price of what today's dollar (2018) would have been worth back then in terms of silver per oz. The ACTUAL high dollar price of silver in 1980 was $49.45 per oz. in the 1980 US dollar.
