Schools Being Instructed By Government To Encourage Kids To Go Cashless

in #money8 years ago

A number of countries are already said to be well on their way toward establishing a cashless economy, and lately India has been in the news and seemingly at the forefront of that anti-cash race.

There are many businesses and shopkeepers who have been quick to adapt to the changes in India and there are millions of more people in the country who are now engaged in making cashless payments because of the crackdown on cash there.

Some entire villages have now gone cashless and received rewards for doing so.

Right now the idea of a cashless India is still going to take some time though, it always was expected to be a gradual process. But they have come a long way; more people are willingly transitioning to adopting cashless transactions.

And to help move things along, the government has recently instructed that schools begin to encourage students to embrace cashless transactions.

The state government has instructed a number of city schools in India to hold financial literacy programs that are going to encourage the students to opt for doing a cashless transaction as much as possible.

The program, they suggest, should be held for both the secondary and higher secondary students. And the teachers have allegedly welcomed the program and are now looking for more guidance on how to go about implementing it.

Mobile payment firms are seeing a lot of success in coming in to meet the need here with millions of people now looking to make more cashless transactions. One of the most popular mobile payment companies in country at the moment is said to be Paytm. And they've just recently received permission in order to establish their own digital bank.

A number of reasons have been given for going cashless, things like it will help to promote a "cleaner economy" or that it is going to fight against terrorism. But others aren't as fond of the idea and they suggest that privacy will be eroded in a cashless economy, or that homeless, street vendors, and others who rely heavily on cash transactions etc will suffer.

It still might take quite a while however, before cash will be gone completely; it feels like that sort of setting won't come around anytime soon. But it is obvious to see how far we have come. Whenever I pay for cash today, I am frequently met with a surprised response from a variety of vendors who always tell me that "no one pays with cash any longer."

This is a real concern to me. I prefer to let people decide what they want to use, not government entities or centralized authorities. I wrote an article just the other day touching on this subject you may find interesting. https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@motowngold/china-considering-a-switch-from-paper-money-and-to-cryptocurrencies-is-this-what-we-want

The government and corporate solution creates more oppression and control. The crypto solution opens the door to liberty.

The dollar will begin its 18 year cycle with a 9 year downturn period to the eurocurrencies as it always has done. This will probably be very bullish for precious metals.

Check out this post for more on the cycles of weakening US dollar and the current state of the dollar.

I'm fine with stronger metals and crypto in the future. I also think there's a high likelihood of another bubble bursting in the stock markets.

They have cashless schools here too, mostly because teachers fear that they'll get lynched if a kid spends a dollar in the vending machine without parental approval or if someone gets bullied for their money.

Coming to the United States soon - cashless societies are tyrannical societies...do you WANT the government to know exactly what you spend, what you spend it on, and where you spend it? Do you also want gov't to have the power to destroy you financially by clicking on a single link and cutting off all of your funds?

I don't know what going cashless is, but I'm pretty sure it's bad and gives the government more power than they should have.

Cashless society? As long as we have an alternative.
If we have just one option for most things in life, we become a slave to the controllers of that option.
Crypto currencies could become the alternative. Hopefully we have some time yet to put in place what the greater number of the world populace will accept. "Just my two cents worth".
Wait a minute. In that world, my phrase won't have any meaning, and will vanish from our vocabulary. Ha

lol, do it involuntarily

You have mentioned about PAYTM which is the most popular mobile payment system available in India now. But, there is another payment system available called the UPI (Universal Payments Interface). Very less people are aware of the platform, but I'm somehow opinionated that it should become the primary mode for mobile payments as the fund transfers are directly done by any bank that you have linked with the interface.

this is a banksters dream they have control over everyone if this happens.
you cannot get a job now unless you have a bank account so you have no choice but to use banks.
if anything happens there will be no more bank runs as you cannot withdraw anything.
it will be big brother on steroids, no wonder people are going to precious metals and crypto currency. just imagine where the price might go when more and more people see whats going on and look for some safety.
that's just my thoughts on it

Is cashless not The Mark Of The Beast!?!? Damn, when I cash out the bitcoin at the BTM I only want to use cash. Whenever you use debit they ding you on every transaction. Who the hell actually likes or uses plastic. I really don't get it!! Cash is way better cause no fee!!!

yeah those fees are why i pref not to use my debit or visa lol :)
