New Study Confirms Less Government Would Bring More Jobs
Researchers have previously estimated that unnecessary occupational licensing could be keeping millions of jobs out of the market.
Whether it's organizing flowers, making drinks, cutting hair, walking dogs, offering tours, or doing makeup, there are countless occupations nowadays that require people to first seek permission before they can start to serve their community.
These licensing schemes keep prices high and quality low, they do little to improve services.
The study results also suggested that the licensing could be contributing to millions in economic losses.
When there are fewer competitors in the market, those who are providing the services, who hold licenses, are able to charge more for their services. The occupational licensing rules help them to carve out and maintain a monopoly. That isn't good for the people, if they are looking for quality and reasonable cost.
Food truck vendors, hair braiding stylists, florists, and other entrepreneurs, have had to fight for their rights to serve and try to earn an honest living. It's a shame to see that the government has done so much to try and keep people from attempting to better their lives.

Why does this not surprise me? I've always been a fan of less government. I see the countless benefits. I could definitely see why big government would limit jobs . Grandma always said less is more. Grandma was a smart lady. Thanks for sharing the article.
Of course! One tenet of fiscal conservatives. A perfect example is the over zealous food safety inspector shutting down the kiddy lemonade stands!
