Only a pawn in their game

in #money6 years ago

The new U.S. federal budget proposal from POTUS adds $100s of billions to the U.S. military and homeland security apparatus and armaments while further disabling the social safety net. Strident cuts included to environmental protection, public housing upgrades, food assistance, and medical research. The deep pockets grow deeper as the military state is the stand-in for democracy, liberty, and opportunity for all. Medicare and Medicaid fall further to the sidelines of priorities as the health care scene remains a torrential mess. Corporations have no allegiance and the financialization casino game spins on with yearly deficits projected at over $1 trillion dollars once again. We belligerently pick new fights to justify our military spending, and squeeze blood out of the old, tired narratives of the Russian and Muslim terrorist threats. Meanwhile Europe flounders in its twisted mess of a fiscal union with messed up monetary policy and Asia continues to rise with a sound blueprint for creating new trade and infrastructure development around the world.

As the oligarchs scurry for the privacy of their gated communities and breezy yachts, the pawns continue to fall on the frontlines in the middle of the great game.

Sad but true, and it seems backwards to me.

Shouldn’t we be focusing more on democracy, peace, and getting out of debt rather than preparing for battles we hopefully do not have to fight?

People are homeless and starving, yet rather than take care of our own people we throw billions into the war machine.

Hopefully one day we can come together, wake up, and end this madness.

Yes, in many ways we are still in the dark ages, it's just that scientific and technological advances masks that our thinking as a society is still backwards ... our system is still built on the accumulation of money as the main goal.

There was an interesting theory about the need of the US industries for war. We need those to build more, sell more, create more debt. Thus we need more enemies.

This guy wrote it better than me:

It really is a shame. Will the people ever rally to end this madness..
