Just when we thought the Tony vs Khabib course has almost passed an urgent announcement in New York has been made on Saturday because of injury. It’s the fourth time a fight between the pair has fallen apart. Dana, the head honcho of the UFC has announced that El Cucui tore a ligament in his knee and will be needing surgery. The knee injury was actually so dire that the muscles was totally separated from the bone and that an operation is imminent. It has not been formally announced yet but it looks like Tony will be stripped off of his Interim Championship belt and with that his bargaining chip for a bigger payday.
Add to the shock we are already in Featherweight champ "The Blessed" has come to save the day, giving him the chance to make history along Conor McGregor and a few others to two belts at the same time and potentially even outshining "The Notorious" as Max has actually unified and defended the Featherweight belt unlike McGregor but all this is still a speculation as he has yet to defeat Khabib and that is a very tough task to ask on a weeks notice.
The Tony vs Khabib fight was initiallysupposed to crown the new Lightweight kingpin and that as soon as the two steps into the steel cage it will be for the undisputed belt. But now that Ferguson will no longer be able to fight for the title as this injury has now forced him to withdraw from the fight. With the featherweight champ stepping in in to replace Ferguson, who has suffered from a torn knee.
