The New Cryptofriendly Welterweight MMA champion of the world - Rory Macdonald
Last night Rory Macdonald took the Welterweight belt from Douglas Lima via unanimous decision. It was a close fight, with Rory sustaining some nasty leg kicks. Moving from the UFC to the Bellator promotion allowed Rory to pick his own sponsors. Featuring prominently on his clothing before, during and after the fight was DASH. One of the best cryptocurrencies out there in my opinion in terms of tech, community, governance and usage (alongside Steem of course). Rory was sponsored with 330 Dash equivalent to $268k today. A proposal was put forth to Masternode miners, those who hold 1000 Dash who can vote on payments directly from the blockchain.

He fights in the same division and promotion as Steems number one mma fighter @michaelvenompage surely these two will clash in the future. Maybe @steemit @ned could sponsor @michaelvenompage so we can see crypto vs crypto sponsorships go head to head! That would be epic, and of course the fight would be so damn awesome!
It's great that Bellator allows the fighter to go out and get sponsorship, unlike the Reebok deal the UFC has. I hope this does entice more fighters to jump ship and looks towards other fighting promotions. Sponsorship money in most cases are bigger then the fight purses especially in the case of the lower tier fighter that are only getting paid 10k usd per fight.
Rory had his hands full that night. Everyone thought he was going to steam roll the competition but Lima had nasty leg kicks. If Lima didn't follow Rory to the ground in the 3rd round, and let Rory back up, I think it would of been the end for Rory.
It was touch and go by the 3rd, it could have easily gone the other way if Lima stayed on his feet. Wonder if Ben Askren would come out of retirement to fight Rory.
If the money is right, he'll do it.

Man, those leg kicks were terrifying. It was amazing how Rory still managed to implement his game and win.
That Dash sponsorship though. Must make his victory all that much sweeter.
A clash between Rory and Michael Venom Page would be something any MMA fan would want to see. While I would rather see both of them in the UFC it is likely they will do better financially in Bellator due to sponsors.
