Minnow University Radio // What The Minnow Support Project Can Do For You

Minnow University is an initiative by Witness, @swelker101 (Shane).
We decided to do our first show about the Minnow Support Project (MSP), which is the inspiration for Minnow University!

I asked Shane to talk about his experience with MSP:

Let me tell you a little story

On May 27th, 2017 I was approved for my Steemit account. I made my Introduction Post and watched as it made about $38. I was stoked! I made a post and people gave me money! EASY. E A S Y.

What happened next? Well, I made my second post and.....

Nothing.. Maybe 10 cents

Then a 3rd post... 10 cents

Uh oh, what happened to that sweet, easy money?

Well, here's the deal. Steemit is hard. You just spent a ton of time on your life-changing post and no one gave you an upvote, but why? You just saw a stupid meme make $100. What gives?

I was wondering the same thing. In fact, I was just about ready to quit Steemit. Until...

In early June I came across a post by @aggroed introducing a new Discord group called PALnet, which is the Discord for the Minnow Support Project.
I attended the meeting that he scheduled in the Palnet Discord to introduce the project and its goals.

So what did I learn?

I learned that having a network of people that you get to know will take you far on this platform. Since joining the group, and being active, my posts have increased in value.

So, that's the takeaway. Join a group like MSP, get active IN the community, and you'll see growth MUCH faster than swimming in these waters alone.

Next thing you will want to do is read the start-here information. This will give you a good idea on what to do and how to do it.

NEXT. And THIS is important. TALK to people. Do not ask for upvotes, do not just drop links, this is not why you are here. You are here to network and get to know people. They will start looking for you on their own. That's organic reach, and you can't beat that!

The MSP Free Upvote Bot

The Minnow Support Project also offers a free upvote bot.
In order to use the bot or any of the MSP services, you need to register. Be sure to read the information contained in the start-here channel. This will explain the process.

Our upvote bot is what brings most of our members. We currently have nearly 13k active people and MOST are only there for the bot.
But it's important to understand that this upvote bot is NOT what will bring you long-term success on Steemit.
The bot is designed to give a bit of a boost to your posts, but real growth comes from networkng, interaction with others, being part of community initiatives, and helping others.
If you only come into Palnet to use the bot and never chat with others or take part in other community initiatives, your growth on the platform will be extremely slow.

Steemit is not a magic money machine.

You need to get involved and get known within a community. That is how you're going to find success on this platform!

Minnow University Radio Episode 1

Last Saturday we had @aggroed and @discordiant on the show to talk about the Minnow Support Project and its Discord, Palnet.

@aggroed is witness number 11 and he started the Minnow Support Project and the Palnet Discord in June of 2017. Palnet already has 13,000 members which is an amazing amount of growth in a relatively short time.
Palnet stands for the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network.
These are ideals that will bring us positivity on a personal level, as well as in our communities and the world in general.
You can learn more about this during the Peace Academy with @aggroed and @isaria which is every Saturday night, 9 PM EST on MSP-Waves Radio.

@discordiant is one of our senior moderators and a Palnet community leader.
He is one of the leaders involved in making sure that Palnet runs smoothly and efficiently.
He also created his own Anti-abuse initiative so he is now known as MSP's Sheriff.
His project is extremely important in maintaing the voting power of our Minnow Support upvote bot.
Many accounts have been abusing the system by creating multi-accounts, plagiarizing, or only posting very low quality content.
@discordiant's initiative has helped us to remove those members who have been abusing the system, allowing the bot to maintain a higher voting power in order to help our members.
