How does the Minnows Accelerator Project (MAP) actually work?

in #minnowsupport6 years ago

This is essentially a FAQ for new MAP Members, but is also an update on our most recent Introduction document.

Firstly, one needs to request to join - it is not automatic. Please read this post and follow the instructions. If you wish to join from our AAKOM project, the process is the same and can be found here. Everything below that refers to MAP also applies to AAKOM.

Secondly, every community on Steemit requires active participation from members in order to thrive. Just expecting plenty of upvotes means that those upvotes will soon run dry! The structure of Steemit means that everybody's Voting Power replenishes up to 100%. This "gift" can be redistributed to members, but it is not infinite!

Hence, MAP tries to ration upvotes to the members who appear to need it most and who produce high quality posts. Many older members have gone on to be prominent Steemians and have found profitable projects and niches. In some ways, MAP has become more of an incubator, helping newer Steemians find their way.

However, MAP is not for complete newbies; it was originally conceived as a help for minnows who had achieved some success but still required support to make that consistent. We do not have the resources to dish out $100 upvotes! But we do have the collective knowledge to help minnows find their way through the myriad apps and communities that continue to spring up around the Steem blockchain. If all you are looking for are juicy upvotes, then please move along and thanks for reading.

What can New Mapsters expect from MAP?

As soon as a new member is accepted, a few things immediately kick in. Firstly, you will receive a link to join our private Discord channel, then you will be added to our list of members receiving upvotes. These upvotes are currently given by my @rycharde account; this frees up the @accelerator account to earn the rewards that are then distributed.

These free upvotes are given about once per day per member, depending on your posting frequency. Also, please note that there is a cap on Voting Power, so I may miss one of your posts. These free upvotes last for about 10 weeks or so - long enough for each person to have made the most of their membership. After that, upvotes may stop or, if the member is active, will continue at a lower level.

New Mapsters are also followed by @accelerator and will appear on the MAP feed. This feed is a useful place to see all Mapster posts and interact with other members.

Every day or two, I check the MAP feed and select some notable posts to be included in our "Curated Resteems and Upvotes" posts. As the name says, those posts will be resteemed and upvoted - hence another source of rewards. I know that the selection is subjective, but that's how it is. Anybody who enjoys curating, may help by creating our occasional "Tales from the MAP Room".

Apart from tangible upvotes and resteems, New Mapsters should use the chatroom to seek any advice on making the most of Steemit and other Steem-related apps. Just ask!

How can Mapsters and MAP support each other?

The MAP Rewarder was created to earn rewards for both the MAP community and delegators. It's aim is to create income that allows MAP to continue to support members with upvotes even with a modest amount of SP.

New Mapsters can thus support MAP Rewarder and earn some extra rewards. The minimum delegation is just 10 SP. There are weekly distributions of profits, made each Sunday, and there are extra features such as "Free Upvote Friday", where one random delegator receives a full upvote from @accelerator. I am also starting an "SBI Saturday" feature, where we give out free Steem Basic Income shares randomly to delegators. Just go to the MAPR Introduction page for more details and check out the latest post from the @accelerator profile page.

If you do not have 10 SP to delegate, there are other ways to support MAP. The most profitable for you is to follow MAP posts from @accelerator with upvotes - this can be automated with either SteemVoter or SteemAuto. I usually leave some time before adding larger upvotes, so that followers can gain some extra curation rewards.

On top of that, I shall be giving out one SBI share to one random upvoter of posts from @accelerator. This will happen near the end of the 7-day reward period. This new feature will start this Saturday.

To help other Mapsters, especially new members, the best MAP trail to follow is by @rycharde - some 90% of upvotes go to Mapsters. In contrast, @accelerator concentrates on income-generation so it is better to follow its posts rather than its voting trail.

In Summary

What New Mapsters receive:

  • free upvotes for about 10-12 weeks

  • free upvotes and resteems if a post is included in our Curated Upvotes post

  • access to our private Discord channel

What New Mapsters and MAP share:

  • follow and upvote MAP posts by @accelerator
= this should generate above-average curation rewards and the possibility of free SBI shares

  • follow and upvote the MAP curation trail run by @rycharde

  • delegate SP to the MAP Rewarder
= this yields a weekly return plus the possibility of a full upvote and free SBI shares

I think that's it... for now!

Sounds interesting .... I will be making an application in the upcoming days.

Hey @Rycharde, I'd like to delegate 10 SP, now that I'm able to. Do I delegate to @accelerator?

Yes, del to @accelerator and you also get the benefits of MAP Rewarder.
Many thanks!

Cool! I'll look up how to do that now ;)

I'm happy to give back a bit what I can to someone who often gives to me :)

All right, tis done :)

I'm new to steemit and don't understand all the terms. I would like to delegate sp but don't know where yet...

Hi, thanks. There are a few utilities people use to help create the command sent to steemconnect to process a delegation.
I use this:
https://helloacm.com/tools/steemit/sp-delegate-form/?delegatee=accelerator
Just fill in your steemit username as delegator and then the value in SP.
Then click "Delegate via steemconnect.com"
That will convert SP into vests (which is the underlying unit of "currency") and double check both usernames are correct.
Only at the final step do you need to enter a key - use either your active private key or higher.
That's it! :-)

I'll be here for another hour or so - any problems, send me a message/comment.
