I don't see it as advertising but more like promoting. As you can see there are no ads here. When we raise people up we lift ourselves up. Steemit was created to show off people, their talents, gifts, passions and life. People grow if they're able to share their life on a daily basis. If people come here to cut and paste other people's work they may feel ignored because steem isn't into other people's works but more on uplifting the individual steemer's shine.
I read your article and if people just come for the money in the beginning they may get frustrated . In the beginning all I did was read posts, curate, comment > to learn what steemit was about. It's nothing what what I thought it was. If you want to make money curating you must know the authors who have the best posts. 25% rewards are taken out for curation from the author's total after 7 days to give to the curators. Would you want more taken out of your post's rewards? To get a piece of the 25% rewards you must be an early voter. For example ... if you know steemisbeautiful post constantly makes good rewards you would want to be one of the first to vote so you would get a good percentage of the 25% total. How does a steemian know who the best authors are? What do you think?
In the beginning most will not make high rewards on their posts unless it has a lot of photos and text that are original and well written > credited > mashed up and credited. If people come here just to make money and not network or have a big following they will be disappointed. The successful steemers are the ones that get to know the community, networking, getting a good follower bast that are active in going to steemer's posts. Successful steemers have original posts and/or give credit to anything that is not their works. Read articles on good posts or go to the high paying posts to see what they do to create good content. It takes time to build up so don't be hard on yourself, chill and have fun with the community.
I've heard some steemians saying you can make a fast buck on steemit. Yes you can if you have a large following from another platform come to steemit. Most steemites work hard to be rewarded for their original works. I know for me it's made me a better blogger, improve my skills and give back to the community. For this I get blessed.

Very well said. Thanks for what you are doing.

My goodness I am humbled and grateful for your kind words. Thank you Nathan.

Very well said Indeed.
That was very insightful, but on the other hand, don't you think it would be great if the system is continuously improved to give high-quality writers a better chance?

It would be nice, but i really think that it will have to happen from the bottom up. If enough minnows find and upvote good content, then over time those content creators will rise to the top.

As I mentioned in the comments of this article, From my discussion with fellow Steemers, I can think of two solutions:
1- Make curation hierarchical. Expert reviewers should be presented with a filtered selection of good content. They should not waste their time searching for the needle in the haystack.
2- The system should be smart. It should learn what are the things that I am interested in and suggest those to me first.

Do you have any other suggestion?

Personally it baffles me how most people are worried about making money when they likely did the same thing on other social media for free.
I know I certainly did, albeit not in a blog-form but rather in a more argumentative comment-section one.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but personally I don't see anything wrong with how the payouts currently are. My only complaint would be to potentially make smaller fishes have more of a chance to become trending, even if it's in a separate "Trending new user posts" category. But that's only because I'm assuming the algorithm to those posts rather than having objective data on if it's reasonable to become trending as a tiny fish, so it could be a false-complaint as I simply don't understand how SP affects rankings and trending/hot potential.

I am not talking about money at all. What I am trying to say in this article is that good content is not reaching those who are interested in it.

I believe the system needs to be improved regularly to provide a better service. I mean Steemit is already great, but should that stop us from improving it continuously?
I claim that the distribution system especially needs to be improved. By distribution, I mean delivering the right content to the right people. Curation is an important factor in such a system.

I agree with you on that. There is something coming soon on the blockchain that should help. Keep posting your ideas and commenting. That is how steemit improves.
Yes I will look at this link. Thank you.
