Today i have the honor to be adding another 1060 to my mining setup.

A Gigabyte 1060 3GB OC

This will make my total setup now to:

  • Asus 1060 3GB OC Dual - 3rd party cooler
  • Asus 1060 3GB OC Dual - 3rd party cooler
  • Gigabyte 1060 3GB OC - 3rd party cooler
  • MSI 1070 8GB gaming - 3rd party cooler
  • Palit 980ti 6gb - Reference cooler

Below you can see a comparison between an Asus 1060 3GB OC Dual and the Gigabyte is a bit smaller mainly because it uses
a shorter PCB but they have constructed in such a way that there's plastic extending and then goes around to make a backplate. Gives the card the appearance to be bigger then it is and also makes it possible to have a dual fan layout without it looking weird (i guess?) .

I'm mainly mining LBRY coin and here's a screenshot when mining with all of the 3 1060s at once.

  • Asus 1060 = 165.2Mh/s
  • Gigabyte 1060 = 163.5Mh/s

The difference in 1,7Mh/s is probably because they are running at different standard overclock.

When mining with 3 1060 and 1 1070 the totalt Mh/s lands on 779 and the 1070 runs at 274Mh/s

And last but not least the powerdraw from the wall outlet with 4 cards in totalt, 3 1060 and 1 1070
is around 640watts.

Thats all for now, I Will be back soon again with other updates on my mining setup.
Have a great weekend everyone, if you have any questions let me know.

Hi, nice post i see your into Nvidia and it's a good choice especially when it comes to price/kwh they don't consume much power and performs well.

Thanks man, yeah I'm happy with them so far. I plan to do a AMD rig later also but one step at the time. I dont have a frame for this current build yet so I'll just follow your guide hehe. Think it's a good time to stack up on rx480 if one has the possibility.

Im glad my article came up on the right time for your next build, as for the RX 480 maybe save some little money & buy 470s just a suggestion and BTW try mining Equihash coins with Nvidia is much better :)

For some weird reason rx470 and rx480 cost the same here where i live, so that's why i was planning to go with 480. I'll definitely will look in to that, which miner do you recommend for that?

Ah i see that explains why, as for the recommended miners im currently using

  • Claymore's different miners for different coins, it's a good miner.

Great!! I'm still struggling to get mine going... code 12 with the motherboard asus rog strix z270h gaming and the 3 xfx rx480 and asus rx470 also the drivers are pain... I never thought that is this hard! Well if you have any idea I will be happy to hear it :)

Hmm weird... I've heard that the Z270 platform should be better then the old Z170 when it came to multiple card configurations. Have you updated the BIOS? Does it work if you run 3 cards?

I had the same thought! i think it can run 4 cards max if im not wrong, try with 3 cards like @timmyit said if the error stay the same check your risers.

Thanks for the suggestion! But as a newbie I think I messed up somewhere in the system with all those drivers and stuff ..

Well it works with 2, code 12 on 3, and one does't even detect it. I will try to update the bios.. but I heard that there are some settings in the bios but I still don't know what exactly to change. Also I'm not sure witch driver to use .. Thanks for the help!

Ah i see, well i'll give you some good youtubers links i hope you find the solution there and try to look at Bitcointalk forum maybe you'll find out how to fix that problem!

Thank you for the links! I searched but I didn't find anything related with the system setup for mining also didn't find the drivers that I should use. Also I don't know how to setup the bios in the motherboard for mining... Thank you again :)

I have seen these with with different motherboards that uses the z170 chipset. Here are the settings which helped me get pass the problem and mining with 5/6 GPUs.

In BIOS, look for and set:

  1. "4G Decode" to ENABLE (this enables the PCI-E bus to use more than 4GB of memory address space)
  2. FAST BOOT to DISABLE (I believe this allows the system more time to enumerate the PCI-E devices)
  3. AUDIO to DISABLE (basically disable onboard audio to free up memory space)
  4. Set PEG/PCI-E to GEN1 (some boards likes GEN2 so try both)
  5. On some Biostar boards, need to set MAX TOLUD size to largest size and NOT Dynamic. (like 3.5GB)

Hope this helps!

Thank you I will try it! I have a problem understanding number 5.. Where I can find it?

Congrats mr. @timmyit; I hope you get good mining with your rig. Besides, I agree with mr. @bbkoopsta regarding mining with "equilash" as Nvidia cards perform better with.

Thank you @mtsmayad, I'm very happy so far and tho i'm new to the whole mining thing daaamn its fun and i can't really explain why it is so much fun haha. I've been sticking to LBRY mainly because i like the technology and the vision of the product and the return has been pretty good. Is there any specific equilash coin you recommend or prefer? Zcash,Zclassic and hush are equilash if I remember correctly but haven't really looked in to them before.

Zcash is fine; but how much coins do you generate and how long the rig works in 24hrs?

It runs 24/7 and generates about 75 LBC coins per day with my new setup. gone down a bit since last week because a lot of people started to mine LBC when the price skyrocketed last week. Before it did aprox 100+ coins a day with 1 less videocard.

That is about $11/day; cool man ...
