Cryptocurrency Mining For Dummies - Battle of the Zcash Miners

Welcome to another edition of Cryptocurrency Mining for Dummies!

For almost a year and a half now, mining Zcash, ZClassic and ZenCash have been some of the most profitable coins to mine with Nvidia GPUs. For most of that time, the gold standard in EquiHash mining has been EWBF's Zcash CUDA Miner. Most miners who are mining Zcash, Zclassic and all the other EquiHash based coins have gladly paid the 2% dev fee the software charges for the increased performance.

But now there is a new miner, Bminer, that promises to squeeze a little more mining performance from your GPU while still only charging the 2% dev fee. We put the two miners to the test to see if the promise of more hash, called Sol/s for Equihash, is true or not. Sol/s stands for Solutions per second.

The GPU used for the test is an EVGA GeForce GTX 1060. The computer used was an Intel i3-2120 CPU running Windows 7 OS. We collected Sol/s from two points, the software reported rate and the pool reported rate.

First we ran EWBF's miner.

And the Sol/s reported by the pool was

Next we ran Bminer.

And the Sol/s reported by the pool was

The following table shows the results.

Reported ByEWBF Sol/sBMiner Sol/sBMiner % Increase
Software2903096.5%
Pool2973011.3%

As you can see, the Bminer software outperforms EWBF's miner by an average of about 3.9%. Since both miners charge the same 2% dev fee, it makes sense to use Bminer. In fact, since the 1060 GPU used in the test will produce a little over $536 a year at current coin prices and difficulty, the extra 3.9% from using Bminer should bring in an extra $21 a year. That's $21 a year, for doing nothing more than you are currently doing.

You can find the Bminer software on their website https://www.bminer.me/releases/.

Until next time...

Seems there are amd altcoins and nvidia altcoins. As some POWs mine better with different shaders it would seem.

Absolutely, certain algorithms work better with AMC GPUs like Ethereum's Ethash, while other algorithms run better on Nvidia GPUs like Equihash or Neoscrypt.

Good info. Faster miners are always welcome. Anything to stay a step ahead of the competition and squeeze a little more profit out of my rig.

I'm glad you find it useful.

I'm mining ETH right now, but if Zcash becomes the most profitable, I'll start using Bminer to get some.

I am not into the world of mining yet but will be soon if everything goes well in the coming days ;)
Will sure be useful then on buddy !

I wish you luck with it.

Thanks buddy !

the setup for me kind of a problem that's why looking for a cloud based mining solution what do you think about bitclub network

I'm a little hesitant to join anything that "requires" I have a sponsor. Sounds a little scammy to me.

Thanks for posting this review. I will have to give it a try. What mining pool do you use for Equihash? My rewards seem to drop off after 48+ hours with Luckpool, Zhash.pro, etc. I switched to mining ETC with EPool because rewards are as expected and I expect the price to do well in the short term.

I use supernova.cc for mining Equihash based coins. I've never had any problems with them.

bro can only using one card that you mentioned is enough to mine a good amount of coin

One card brings in a little more than $500 a year.

you do mining everyday bro ?

one of the best gpu used for that thanks for sharing about this :)

You are welcome.
