Purging Stuff | Minimalism Explored

in #minimalism6 years ago

The last couple of days was a refreshing process of purging some stuff that we really haven't used and didn't need. Quite refreshing to clean up some things and get rid of some things we no longer needed. Hope you enjoy.

With Gratitude,
Captain Bob

😀 Awww such a cool dad. That is awesome. We are too attached to a lot of things that are not really important. Congrats on 1600 followers on this difficult times to get new people to follow you and discover us lol and also I told You before... We're is your weekly podcast?????? I would listen to you talking about anything for 1 hour straight once again! I know you are busy but you better find the time for it.

Oh thanks Sergio. I hadn't noticed I crossed the 1600 mark. Weekly podcast might become a reality that's for sure, but the timing of it is a bit unknown for me at the moment :) Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated.

Please do it.... 😀 You know I am obsessed with listen to you talking. Your videos and editing and all of it is more than amazing as well. Of course. Don't want to stop that. Eheheh just want more ehehhe

Good to off load the clutter. Going forward you will also be consuming a lot less than before. If we all do the same, this would have huge impacts.

Agreed. A little bit at a time is my focus. Not trying to move the mountain in one day :D

i have that problem with electronics. I think i have at least 3 PCs form the beginning of 2000 at the attic. o and some old CRT monitors. i have no idea why i still have them but they are still here :D

Haha I think photo/video people are naturally geared towards wanting to keep those electronics around. I have to periodically make myself throw away an old laptop or notebook computer that I know I'll never use again. But I think because they were so expensive when we first purchased them, it is hard to reconcile that they have little to no value now and need to be relieved of their space.

the value and "well i will put it away maybe i will use some of the parts, what if something in the new one dies" :) and then you just stumble upon on Pentium 4 from 2002 :D

Eliminating stuff is just the beginning :P afterwards elimination of our patterns is needed, triggers etc

Eventually we can come to a point of eliminating the excess thoughts from ourselves (what all thoughts actually are - related to body -> brain -> mind)

When we finally encounter silence for the first time, full freedom is realized... That's when you come to a conclusion how, no matter where you are or under what circumstances - if you have peace inside of yourself everything is just fine :)

Peace.

Definitely interesting how minimalism and mindfulness seem to often walk together.

Nice! Congrats on the purge and happy that your son got more basketball space. We just had a huge purge a few months ago, while getting ready for my son to move out and off to college. I can't stand having yard sales but we had a big one and got rid of tons of toys and stuff that had accumulated under the house. Did a big Salvation Army drop off of stuff that didn't sell and many many landfill runs. It feels nice having more space now for more junk to accumulate, haha!

There in lies the danger I think, haha. Once you get rid of the junk...it's now avoiding it coming back again :)

Yup! Haha! Good luck with that...

Best reason to own a truck. I miss owning one. You can send that grill my way. :) Fresh is a good feeling. We purged a bit when we moved (my wife more than I) but I still have a lot to go through. I'm very nostalgic regarding items I have.

Yeah that grill had been renovated twice already and I was having trouble finding parts any longer. I'm back to a trusty Weber charcoal and I think I might even like it better.

I get that. My wife is charcoal or bust. Nothing gets me hungrier when I'm out for a walk or run and smell someone grilling on a charcoal grill.

I love the wonderful idea of minimizing! Be well.

Thank you man! You and many others have had a positive impact on my thought processes in that direction so thank you for your influence.

I'm trying to become more minimalistic too I made a post talking about it today, kinda funny. Yeah it does feel very refreshing to get rid of things :)

I bet with all that house work, you had some excellent time to purge a little bit. :) I am actually in the process of watching your video right now!

oh man. it’s a life saver. love the minimalist movement too. I know i need to clear a lot out of my field of vision lol

Man I'm a slow work in progress, but just trying to make some measured changes to move in that direction. One step at a time.
