How much did the military spend yesterday? $1.6 billion
Yesterday's military spending was all about food. Tyson Meats garnered two contracts for beef totaling $700 million while Get Fresh out of Las Vegas was awarded $37.5 million for fruit.

Sure, the military needs to be taken good care of in respect of their selfless sacrifices to the nation but this is way out of proportion.
It just shows a nation with a disarrayed set if priorities.
It's hard to stay positive sometimes @geke... the military spent $1.6bn yesterday in a nation where 51 million households are financially "at risk." At $31.37 per family... they would actually each have a day without pondering where the money for tomorrow's food would have to come from.
Being part of one of those 51 million households, that's a bitter pill to swallow... but thanks for shining the light on it.

This series is definitely depressing. What I'm hoping to do is to use repetition to really drive home to people what the government is doing every... single... day. It's diverting your money to people it finds more deserving, usually because company owners or directors are buddies with the legislators and appropriators. And it's not that the government could spend this money better elsewhere (it won't). The bottom line is that we can spend our own money better elsewhere, and should be allowed to do so.
