Celebrating my 2-year Steem anniversary
Time flies when you're having fun! I can't believe that it's been two years since I first registered for an account on Steemit.com. At that time I had no idea what I was getting into, and I would probably not believe it if someone told me just how much time I would spend on this blockchain, how many awesome people I would get to know and become friends with, and how much interesting stuff I would learn from reading other people's blog posts.
Thanks to @steemitboard for reminding me!
What was my blog like one year ago?
I wanted to dig out my previous anniversary post for this, because I remember doing one back when I had been here a year as well. But the anniversary post itself is not really that interesting, but seeing what I was writing about back then was.
Some of the posts I did around my 1 year anniversary was:
- If you manage to find an Ivory-billed woodpecker (Campephilus principalis), then you are in for a $50,000 reward. This was a fun post, and the offer is still valid! It's a year later, and no new progress has been made with the hunt.
- A new species of orangutan has been recognized, and it is already threatened by extinction! I think most of you who have been following me for a while have realized that taxonomy and description of new species is a passion of mine, and I have probably written 5+ more of these in the last year.
- How the electric eel (Electrophorus electricus) produces electricity to stun its prey. I actually remember how much time I had to spend researching this post before writing it, since I'm not very familiar with electricity prodctuction in animals. So I learned a lot of new stuff researching this, and I would suggest that you guys check out this post if you want to learn about the electric eels. I also miss seeing those $50+ author payouts of course :P
- I just got my first Cryptokitties! Looking back this was my one my worst investments ever. I should have saved it and eventually bought more Steem Monsters instead, because these seem to actually have a good and profitable future.
My first two cryptokitties.
My conclusion from looking back at these is that I used to write a lot more fun biology and ecology post, and these have steadily decreased in frequency. I was very addicted to writing my blog at that time, and these days I can rarely find the time to spend a few hours on writing a good science post. It's unfortunate, but it pretty much boils down to the fact that other things in my life is taking more time and attention, and I honestly can't spend the same amount of effort on my blog as I did last year.
But I also really miss diving into new topics that I can research and potentially write about, and I really hope my life will be a little less busy after New Year's Eve. Hopefully I can return to writing more frequent science posts again soon!
Here's to many more years
I want to thank everyone who still follows me even after all this time, both old and new. There are few people that I actually remember from two years back, but there are a few of you that are still stopping by from time to time. I appreciate every upvote and comment, so thanks for sticking with me for so long!
Congratulation on this impressive anniversary my friend! You must have been one of the very early Steemians :) It has been a pleasure for me to be one of your followers. Keep up the great and inspirational work! All the best in your future Steemit career :)
Thank you for the kind words, @phortun. And thanks for all the interesting comments you've left on my posts!

Thanks. And that's cool; there are not many of us 2016 users left here still.
A belated congratulations!
Thanks :D
You are almost a veteran here! Congrats.
Hehe, yep, I'm getting close to a veteran status now. Thanks!
Wao...two years:)
You are right how quickly time flies...
I bet Crypto Kitties were a good option, since we didn't had Steem Monsters back then.
Here to many more years to come:) Cheers
Thanks!
And yeah, Cryptokitties felt like a nice investment at the time, but it aged very badly. Almost no kitties are worth anything any longer, and very few people still buy them :(
Happy Anniversary!
Lovely that you stuck around until now :)
Thanks!
Congratulations 😍😍, I had already completed :)
Thanks!
Welcome:)
Today is my 100 days on steemit ... good luck Firend
Congrats on the 100 day milestone :)
