Rescue Me
This is a 250 word microfiction story for the contest of @jayna and @FreeWriteHouse. The prompt for the story is "stitch".
Bright lights in my eyes, the blaring of the semi’s horn, the sick feeling of skidding out of control. Those were the things I took with me to bottom of the ravine.
The seatbelt cut into my neck. I struggled with it, panic rising in my gut. The door was jammed, but the window afforded an escape. Blood running down my face made it hard to see. Dim starlight barely reached the depths. The smell of gas was rising around me, further increasing my terror. Visions of being trapped in a burning car gave me strength.
Finally released from the belt, I crawled out the gaping hole. I hit the ground and was immediately rewarded with an agonizing pain in my right shoulder. It felt dislocated.
I crawled away from the death trap as far as I could. Surely the truck driver had seen me go off the road. Help would be coming soon.
It was a steep uphill climb to get back to the roadway. With my shoulder hanging useless at my side, the climb looked impossible. Blood continued to pour from a large gash in my forehead. If I could just move this arm, I could rip off my shirtsleeve and make a bandage.
Tears of relief formed when I heard the sirens approaching. Soon I saw the flashlight beams and heard a man’s voice calling.
Loaded safely in the ambulance now. The paramedic said, “ Don’t worry, ma'am, a stitch or two and you’ll be good as new.”

@blueeyes8960, good post!
p.s. btw this picture is from Russia. The numbers of the car are Russian. 39 Number is registration number for the vehicles in Kaliningrad Region. And the buildings as well... Typical condominiums.
That's awesome, I would never have noticed that. I was just looking Pexels for an ambulance picture. Hope you never have to ride in one!

A stitch or two. Nice. Did they administer that on the spot?
Lol, hopefully they waited til they got to the hospital and gave her some pain killers!
Ha ha yeah.
Nice writing...I can somehow imagine some warm liquid flowing on my head as the story goes. Accidents are painful, drive save everyone!
.. as good as new... Let's hope so
Well done, @blueeyes8960! I'm sorry it took me several days to get to your story and read it! Busy busy week. I love the suspense in this story. Great job.
