Metal Fans - If you haven't seen a Lost in Vegas hip hop reaction to metal on Youtube you should check them out... Links to videos and my comments... my favorite reaction channel

in #metal7 years ago

These two gentlemen have now become my favorite reaction video people. A reaction video is when people listen to a song for the first time on video and give a reaction. These guys are different in that they listen to the studio productions and they will PAUSE the song and give comments and continue. They always include a link to what they reviewed in their comments below the video.

The fun thing is these guys are kind of hip hop fans, but they have been doing reaction on all genres including metal and country. Their metal reviews have given them some huge responses.

They've had Dave Mustaine of Megadeth retweet their review of some Megadeth songs. They are very fun to watch. Now they do reactions to a lot of styles of music. People that follow me know I like writing about metal. (yes, I will continue the Metal Tree 2nd Edition stuff here soon).

Anyway, I these guys have become my favorite reaction videos to watch.

I am going to go ahead and share ALL of their metal reactions here along with my comments. I will do it in the order they did them. I'll let you know they are definitely becoming metal heads, I've recently seen them get excited and involuntarily head bang.

Metallica- Enter Sandman (Reaction!!!)

You can tell they are newbs as he keeps saying "Metallica... Enter The Sandman".

Give them a chance. They are growing and learning and it is actually fun to watch it happen. Can tell by them singing it and such that this was not a virgin (never heard it) reaction. They get better as we go on... enjoy this journey. It is fun.

If you like this stuff subscribe to their channel. I do. I look forward to their videos.

Linkin Park- From The Inside (REACTION!!!)

This was a tribute reaction. They are a crossover band, so this one is not necessarily virgin either. I actually missed this reaction myself and just watched it as I was making this post.

Linkin Park- What I've Done (REACTION!!!)

The Linkin park Stuff is pretty mellow compared to where they go, but it is them beginning to skirt some of the sub-genres. Linkin Park does fit into some sub-genres of metal. I wanted to present them chronologically... the journey gets interesting once they start encountering stuff in a more virgin reaction.

Avenged Sevenfold - Afterlife (REACTION!!!)

This was requested. This is a virgin reaction, and this is probably the heaviest thing they did up to this point, unless you think Enter Sandman was heavier. ;)

Killswitch Engage- The End Of Heartache (REACTION!!!)

The Killswitch one is not completely virgin this time either. It's still pretty fun. Ryan even states this one isn't really a reaction.

Korn- Freak On A Leash (REACTION!!!)

Not a reaction. They express how much they like Korn. So they were not completely un-metal. Yet, their journey of discovery is fun and perhaps reminds nostalgically our own discovery.

Nickelback - Someday (REACTION!!!)

They are still working towards when it gets really interesting. It is interesting to see how much higher their views are on the heavier videos and the votes.

Pantera- Walk (REACTION!!!)

This one is pretty fun. This was by request. They do acknowledge they've heard it before, but never paid attention to the lyrics until now.

Here is where I discovered them

Megadeth - Holy Wars...The Punishment Due (REACTION!!!)

This reaction is key. You can tell it blew some doors off of their hinges in their mind. They will continue to reference this song for some time to come in other reactions after this. Dave Mustaine was pretty happy with their reaction as well. @richq11 and others that are into metal with me... check out that review. I think you'll enjoy it.

This reaction was great.

Metallica- Sad But True (Reaction/Review!!!)

They do keep catching some flak at this point for picking the pretty basic more commercial Metallica titles. I mean how is this supposed to stand up to Holy Wars. Answer: It isn't. They'll rectify that soon.

Slayer - Raining Blood (REACTION!!!)

This one was funny and the first glimpse of them perhaps getting thrown into the deep end before they had learned to swim in these waters. This is one of those bands that takes some ear training to appreciate, but once your ears and mind can interpret it... it is awesome. Though in this case they gave a good honest reaction and I don't think they were ready for this YET. Though from some of their more recent reactions I think they are getting there.

Trivium - Silence In The Snow (REACTION!!!)

They talked about the love the metal community has been showing them in this review and in the slayer review above.

Judas Priest- Painkiller (REACTION!!!)

They got a ton of requests for this. This was the first Priest Album that pushed into the Thrash/Speed Metal style that was leaving some of the older stuff seeming to be lower energy.

Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name (REACTION!!!)

They get WAY into the lyrics in this reaction. They spend quite a bit of time talking about the lyrics. This was another request. Overall great reaction.

Metallica- Master Of Puppets (REACTION!!!)

Finally. Something that shows MORE, and is not so commercial. They acknowledge the comments from people at the beginning. You can tell they GET IT by the end of this song. They understand and even apologize. GREAT REACTION.

Suicidal Tendencies - How Will I Laugh Tomorrow (REACTION!!!)

By request, you can see the fan requesting it as the top comment on the Hallowed Be Thy Name reaction.

Anthrax - Caught In A Mosh (REACTION!!!)

This was not the best song to pick for Anthrax in my opinion, but it is not surprised people would recommend this. It isn't as impressive as people would think. I would have had them do Indians or Among The Living from this album, or perhaps Madhouse from something older. They are trying to hit the big four.

Black Sabbath- War Pigs (REACTION/REVIEW!!!)

I love their reaction to this video. It was great. This one is really fun to watch.

Tool- Forty Six & 2 (REACTION!!!)

This was a very highly requested song for them. :)

Gojira - Stranded (REACTION!!!)

After this they end up liking Gojira quite a bit. You'll see another reaction to Gojira later in this post that I think was perhaps one of their craziest reactions.

MESHUGGAH - Bleed (REACTION!!!)

Kind of like Slayer - Raining Blood I don't know that they were quite ready for this. I get mental pictures of someone shoving them into the deep end of a swimming pool.

Megadeth - Tornado of Souls (REACTION!!!)

They did another Megadeth. This reaction wasn't quite as cool as Holy Wars. Though it is still a good one. Holy Wars as a song to intro Megadeth made sense to me. Tornado of Souls though wouldn't have been one of the songs I'd have recommended at this point. Hanger 18, Peace Sells, or something like that I'd have recommended.

Dream Theater- Metropolis Pt. 1 (REACTION!!!)

I was one of the people that had been recommending DT, but I didn't do the Twitter poll. I don't do Twitter. My reasoning is I kept hearing them talking about complexity and drumming and such, and all I could think during those comments was "They haven't heard Dream Theater or other very technical progressive metal" so my reasoning was that they really needed to hear something truly technical. I kept recommending Dance of Eternity, but after listening to this reaction they wouldn't have been ready for it. What they have LIKED I would say something like AS I AM, LIE from Awake, or Lines In The Sand would be more their speed. People keep saying "Pull Me Under" because that is their one commercial radio success. I disagree. I believe As I AM would be more to their taste. It has a bit of a Sabbath and Metallica vibe to it without going too nuts.

Slipknot - Duality (REACTION!!!)

This is a good reaction.

Gojira - The Heaviest Matter Of The Universe (REACTION!!!)

This happens to be the craziest reaction I think these guys have done. This is fun to watch. Their reaction is fun. It makes me chuckle. It still feels like people wading in the pool and walking closer towards deeper waters. They are getting there. They do some serious involuntary head banging in this. They are getting hooked. You can watch their minds adapting and their ears adjusting. It is very nostalgic. I remember being there.

Exodus - The Toxic Waltz (REACTION!!!)

Decent mosh song, but not one I'd really have recommended. I actually used to jam this song on my guitar many years ago. Though I think some of their observations were spot on and in many cases made me think about it in ways I hadn't before.

That's their metal journey so far. If you like them I recommend subscribing to their channel.
