MegaCon 2018 Masters of Cosplay Southeast Qualifiers Winners

MegaCon 2018 was proud to host the Southeast Qualifiers for the first ever "Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix" (which is presented by GEICO, and I don't mind typing it out because the people from GEICO at both their booth as well on stage have been nothing but positive, "GEIGO has Great Rates!" and support these geeky things going on).   This cosplay contest was no simple thing where you could just mix and match stuff from a Halloween store, there was some pretty strict rules.  In fact, here is a screen shot of that so you can see what went into these great cosplayers costumes.

Told you this is no joke.  But know one person had their hard work win them a fine sum of $5000 as well as the champion will be heading to the "FAN EXPO Canada" to represent the Southeast.  More posts will be coming up with more of the other contestants, but just know there is still another day of MegaCon to get to I need sleep (it's 5 something a.m. last I checked, stopped looking at the clock at the bottom right of my screen on purpose).  So for now though, wanted to show off these great winners, who were broken down into divisions like age as well as competition experience.   Cosplay stuff is serious business folks.   Speaking of which, here is all the finalists in the order with "Best in Show" at the end.

So if you remember all the cosplayers in that header image and have been going by process of elimination in your mind based on the images you have already seen, then and only then you obviously have realized the Best in Show has gone to...

Snow White Knight!   The hosts made sure to point out the detail that just can't be seen unless you are super up close, not that any convincing should be needed for the kick ass original costume.  Everything was from scratch.  When this contestant first hit the stage I could actually overhear the judges murmuring over just the shoes themselves right away.   

Since I just made a gif of one of them, I do want to mention the hosts and judges were all pretty awesome.  All three judges seemed very knowledgeable.  Each cosplayer had a little back and forth with the hosts on stage, and even though it all seemed like pre-written conversation, for the most part it was all funny banter.   Hope you enjoyed the photos.  Also check out Steemit users @darth-azrael and @blewitt for some more #MegaCon coverage.
