Meet up with Kota Kinabalu Steemians in Big Hug Burger & Businesses That Accepts Steem Payment

PART 1: MEET UP WITH FELLOW TEAMMALAYSIA MEMBERS

Another late night on Wednesday and woke up late on Thursday but determined to make the effort to go meet up with fellow Steemians. In the morning, I contacted @joannewong and @aaronleang because I plan to be at their home by around 4:00pm and car pool to Big Hug Burger (Setapak). If I were to leave my house in Kajang at 5pm, I probably won't arrive at the restaurant until 6:30pm. Anyway, I rushed to get as much work done as possible and by the time I was ready to leave, it was 3:45pm. The drive to Aaron/Joanne's condo was surprisingly smooth. View from their condo is just superb and I was busy playing with their friendly cat. By around 5:15pm, we made our way to Big Hug Burger (Setapak).

Took us around 20 minutes to travel so it wasn't bad. It was so great to meet up with fellow Steemians as always, especially those from Sabah who are here for MATTA Travel Fair. I am aware that Kota Kinabalu & Labuan team are active, so I see their meet up photos regularly, but great to finally meet them up in person.

@joannewong has been on salad diet and today was her cheat day, so it was her anything-but-vege meal

@joannewong, @karinzdailygrind, @veenang & @danielwong catching up. One of the reason why @veenang wants to meet up with @danielwong was because they have their businesses accepting Steem/SBD. I know they spent some thing throwing ideas and exchanging the challenges they faced. But it was a golden opportunity for them so they can consult each other.

@littlenewthings, @viverridae, @gelfire & @aaronleang chatting. @littlenewthings is always excited to talk about Steemit, TeamMalaysia, Teammalaysia Discord channel and anything about value or trading related to Steem/SBD. She tireless work hard to ensure TeamMalaysia is heading to the right path.

Yum.... the cheese pasta looks amazing. I will definitely be ordering this in the future. Just add some chilli flakes, parsley/celentro and fresh pepper and it would be perfect.

@bethrao came over to introduce herself. We announced the meet up on Discord channel and I am glad that she came over to join us. She is not only new to Steemit but also joined Discord for only 2 days. Reminds me of the day when I joined the my very first Steemit event. I was not only inactive but knew absolutely no one. That was only 2 months ago, now, I really loving the communities and pledge to help with he growth of TeamMalaysia. So kudos to @bethrao for her initiative.

After dinner, we went upstairs to catch up and had long chats. Some of us proceeded to TeaLive. Never a dull moment with fellow Steemians. I was extremely sleepy but glad we stayed on until midnight.

PART 2: STEEM/SBD PAYMENT AND BUSINESSES THAT ACCEPTS STEEM/SBD

A) Big Hug Burger

Main reason why we have been patronising Big Hug Burger (Setapak & SS15 branch) is because it accepts Steem/SBD. @danielwong has been busy promoting his burger joints and many TeamMalaysia are aware of it. Steemit is a platform that pays and reward you for your hard work, and making money out of it tough, but it is definitely worth considering spending your (intangible) Steem/SBD on a (tangible) meal. The feeling is exactly like spending your hard earned money on your very first job.

B) Totally Borneo Holidays

@veenang made an announcement that his tour agency is starting to accept Steem/SBD as a form of payment. He consulted @danielwong as Daniel was the first business in Malaysia to break the boundaries. But value of tour packages is a lot greater, hence, more prone to fluctuation. @veenanag is taking a lot of risks but by opening up his business to Steemians, we can help him promote to all Steemians (local and abroad).

C) Pay With Steem

@zord189 and his team have been pioneering the concept of making purchases via e-commerce website and make payment with Steem/SBD. It is a lot more challenging that both businesses mentioned above because it involves different countries & logistics. E-commerce has been growing in momentum, with the vast amount of payment gateways in existence, there is still opportunities for those looking for alternative payments. There are countries like Vietnam and Middle East that still request for COD (cash on delivery) payment. Steem/CBD on delivery would make an interesting option.

D) My person services

I have publicly offered my photography services, and I accept fiat currency or Steem/SBD or combination of both. Now, I will also offer professional photo editing services and will post details on my very next post. @superoo7 first told me about SteemGigs. SteemGigs is essentially a platform for freelancers to offer their services like Fiverr, PeoplePerHour, Guru, etc... Of course, SteemGigs accepts payment in Steem/SBD.

E) TeamMalaysia Discord

Exclusively for Malaysians or any Malaysian resident, TeamMalaysia Discord Chatroom has a channel specifically for buying/selling of goods and services. The admins are working hard to create a hot bed for alternative trading options and we should all take full advantage of it.
