Medicine Card Monday #19 "Shaman Oracle - The Serpent" My Gift To Steemit ---> For The Week Of September 10, 2018

in #medicinecardmonday6 years ago (edited)

There was a time I associated the serpent with Satan, many of us learn this if we were raised Christian and have read the book of Genesis, Chapter 3. However, with our own life experience we begin to reason and develop our own decisions. One train of thought that I choose to prescribe to is that the serpent is not an evil or a dark entity and in actuality an amazing creature.

If you haven't guessed yet, the card I pulled for Steemit this week is The Serpent.

The Serpent

When we start to explore the term serpent, throughout many cultures the snake represents many different things. For instance, in German mythology the serpent is an enemy of Thor, in Hindu mythology the serpent are considered a member class of semi-divine beings, of course my favorite since becoming more acquainted with my ancient's history are the Hopi believe that serpents engenders rainfall and fecundity upon the high desert.

When we think of our weekly message from the Oracle let's ponder the serpent as a creature who is here to bring us medicine and something we may need to see within ourselves to improve upon, possibly change, or facts to take into consideration as we move along this path we call life and not a sinister message.

All of my readings are geared towards a healing; breaking through mental, spiritual, or emotional blocks that will assist us in overcoming every day obstacles.

If this is your first time swinging by, my Medicine Card Monday initiative is my positive intention to pull a card of healing or medicine for the community. This is different than tarot in that the cards I use are on the medicinal aspect of humanity other than the most common cards found in a tarot deck.

The decks I use are The Wild Unknown - Animal Spirit, Mystical Shaman Oracle, and the Chakra Wisdom Oracle. The cards will assist in helping those interested, find comfort in things going on in our community and the world we are now dealing with. Namely, issues around the world, astronomical, or overcoming health issues of all sorts, etc., maybe just something out of balance that we are feeling on any particular day that needs guidance.

By pulling a card for Steemit this will in turn assist with my Medicine training, give back to the community, and help those seeking answers. I will take some of the reading from guidebooks provided with the cards, but primarily give intuitive and medicinal words to help our community. We all have days when we need encouragement, inspiration, and comfort.

The Meaning

The serpent represents healing, transformation, life changes and is connected to life force or primal energy. This transformation can be physical, spiritual, or emotional.

The Message

Quetzaquetal Double Headed Serpent

The Essence

The Serpent is the life force of Mother Earth. The coiled serpent of the Kundalini brings passion, healing, and renewal. She offers us the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden, and reminds us to shed the past the ways she sheds her tired, old skin. Serpent comes to offer you the forbidden fruit that will set your passion and creativity free.

The Invitation

The Serpent power of the Kundalini is stirring within your chakras, gently asking you to embrace its mystery. Shed the old skin that you have been so attached to, and welcome the vulnerable pink underbelly that will bring you a fresh experience of your life. Your passion and sexuality are awakening, and this can be scary. Trust the wisdom of Serpent to transform your sensual energies into beautiful, original manifestations.

The Medicine

When you shed the past gracefully, life will not strip it away with great drama --- indeed, that is something you want to avoid. Do not use your energies to seduce others, or allow yourself to be seduced, even by your own ideas!

What we see here is a message calling to our creativity and release our past gracefully. We are returning coming out of the month of August, a month of astrological upset. Meaning this past month was a time where relationships may have been broken, arguments ensued, and we had to regroup. This message is reminding us to allow all of that to go gracefully and move on. Allow the change to take place and open up to new and creative opportunities.

Eagle Spirit's Medicine

With this reading I send out a Native American medicine song to all who read this post. This is a song we sing when the Lakota come to Ute land for our monthly medicine ceremony. So, take a moment to get comfortable, sit back, and accept this medicine while listening to the song provided below. May you find peace, comfort, and healing in all that you do this week.

I need to get one of those reading @eaglespirit

yes ma’am! 😁

hi there 😆 did you spam me? 😂🤣😁🤣

I was trying to leave a comment with the least amount of words possible and didn’t want to me rude and use a pronoun :)

Oh yeah, I love this post. Just what I was hoping for. Resonating with the message you're seeing in the serpent here, and in fact we're experiencing a wonderful downpour of rain here in the desert of Central Texas. Aho. So grateful for this song, which I know and love.

BTW, I'm reading this book I think you'd like a lot, called Waterlily. Have you heard of it? My Rosebud Lakota friend who is a 30-year teacher of Native American studies shared it with me. It's the story of Sioux life, from the women's perspective, as opposed to the story of warrior or holy man. I highly recommend it, if you're interested. Hugs.

Sweet on all accounts: the love, the hope, the book, and the rain! big hugs back

That was uplifting! Thanks for sharing with us.

awww thank you so much, you are so kind and thoughtful xo

I had no idea that you are so wonderful! My sister (who passed away about ten years ago) was also a Reiki Master. Even at the end of her life, she emanated such a wonderful energy and such a peaceful presence...I get the same feeling about you in reading this. And thank you for reminding us that the snake is not a thing of evil. I will follow your posts more closely from now on, as you are not only wise and spiritual in the best way, but you also remind me of my sister's beautiful spirit that still lives inside of me to this day!

wow, what a lovely comment. it brought tears to my eyes and as i listen outside i hear the hummimgbirds. thank you for sharing such a deep part of yourself with me. it means a lot. much appreciation and love to you, eagle spirit

And love right back to you. I look forward to more beautiful content like this from you! (Hummingbirds are the best!)

@dinoromanelli thank you and my father (native american) told me they are old warriors coming to tell me something ... cool right?

Yes...that is cool! Share their message with me if you are able.

what? not sure i get your statement. i was sharing the message. LOL

As you know we hae chakras and energy goes up the spine. It is all interconnected.
I agree with you that is not necessarily bad, the serpent is a symbol.

"I associated the serpent with Satan, many of us learn this if we were raised Christian and have read the book of Genesis, Chapter 3"

I had a professor who insisted that there was a propaganda message intended in that story that would have been clear to the people who wrote it. The snake was a popular symbol for rebirth in the region (I guess because it sheds its skin) and the authors were painting the other systems of belief as "evil" or whatever.

Haha I used to see things like that two headed snake on mushrooms. Mine looked like they were made of neon signs though lol.

I came across an interesting fact I wasn’t previously aware of.

There is no evidence of the association of the serpent with Satan anywhere in either Christian or Hebrew scripture or texts.

The first and earliest evidence this association is actually in the Qu’ran.

In western culture I believe that it is Milton that Popularizes that idea in Paradise Lost but I think that it had been floating around for some time before that so there is a good chance it bled over from from Islamic culture.

i'm sure its more ancient than that ...

what do you feel? the same as your professor or differently?
neon woohooo love it!! 🤘🏽

I suppose his explanation for the symbolism follows well enough. When you have groups competing for the hearts and minds of a population you are going to see them talk a little shit about each other. If enough times goes on, people might forget the purpose of the symbols and come to accept those things as literal truth. We can see the the same thing now. The conservatives call liberal snowflakes and the liberals call the conservatives rednecks but those terms and the ideas that they convey have nothing to do with sunburned necks and little bits of falling ice.

Then again , a lot of snakes are poisonous and poisonous animals tend to freak people out (I almost stepped on a rattlesnake once when I was walking around the desert and it was a little unnerving to here the rattle after I had already passed the snake lol). From a literary standpoint, they make convent "bad guys" that people will easily recognize as "bad guys." I am guilty of that, myself. I just used a snake image in my last post after a paragraph about how "The Man" is lying to us lol.

The Judaeo-Christian stuff isn't alone in its negative image of snakes though. In Amphitryon, Juno is mad because Jupiter knocked-up a human woman and she sends snakes to kill the baby but the baby is Hercules and he strangles the snakes. So, there were some anti-snake feelings floating around the Mediterranean and the near-east for quite some time and that kind of leads me to believe that the "evil snake" image is part of the shared culture of the region.

Haha yeah neon and pastels are what my mind seems to produce when I trip. I would get a lot of hallucinations that looked like Pre-Colombian Central American art. The question is, was I seeing that stuff because that stuff is "trippy" by its nature or was I seeing it because I had associated those things with "trippyness" and produced those images as a result of that unconscious belief? It's hard to tell but, either way, it made for a cool "light show" lol.

@artisticscreech who is "he?" what a beautiful comment and very thoughtful. thank you for taking the time to reason out your own "guilt" ahahaha that was a good one. love that!
your honesty is great.
that snakes eating babies is gross, why does the world want to eat babies?? its so disgusting to me. i know i know the real reason and its worse than disgusting. but ok, thanks for sharing that LOL
thats pretty funny about you and "tripping" youre right great light show indeed. love your musings and thinking on this ....

Oh Yeah "He" is the professor from the first comment. He was very slight old bald guy who taught Latin and some humanities courses and had some interesting ideas about things. I took several of his classes while I was at that university despite some of them really not counting toward anything that I needed.

Haha Having never eaten a baby, I can't say what the appeal is. They do tend to run slower than adults so that might be part of it lol.

The psychedelics were always fun and they really have provided tons of material to write about so, despite what the anti-drug types might say, they have been pretty positive in their impact.

@artisticscreech me either ... but apparently according to sources as in YouTube .... LOL!
apparently it is sucking in the babies energy while they are in fear mode and is a blood sacrifice so yeah they enjoy blood. so there ya have it ... we've all seen it in movies and many cannot hardly believe our eyes and ears but it exists. we all know it, if we listen to the whispers.
anyhoo ... its up to some of us and then all of us to stand up to them and vengeance will be made. it is what it is.
