Drive-by Medical Care
Last week I had several relatives who were in a automobile accident and they were taken by ambulance to the emergency room at a local hospital.
I arrived about 10 minutes after the ambulance and wanted to make sure that they had an advocate at the hospital. An ambulance will generally take you to the closest hospital, but this was not the hospital of choice.
After receiving average medical care, they were both released, only to find out this week that the doctors did not reveal to one of my relatives a very serious fracture.
The care that many people receive in the emergency room today is similar to driving through the line at a fast food restaurant and quickly receiving non-nutritional fast food.
The drive-by medical care is no different. The only difference is that it is slow service and a person’s life is at stake for the medical care that is purchased.
