What do you do when your parents and a lot of americans their age are living in a complete media illusion.

Tell my mom Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama funded ISIS and you are in for it. Depite it being established fact as sure as the sky is blue. Tell her about the Voter fraud committed by the DNC and the proof. She will call Donald Trump a sexist. Media brainwashing is real and it is killing our parents. This shit is unbelievable. People literally don't want to know the truth. My dad probably couldn't get to the wikileaks emails to read them and my mom could but flat out wont. Or will read it and try to rationalize it in any nonsensical way. I started writing posts about my family and it got more up-votes than I expected. Could it be because others know these struggles. Could it be because the Media is having a direct and negative impact on the people who consume it.

You are right, this is political bias, like for example some people will not acknowledge Ronald Reagan was responsible for Al Qaeda. I am not from the US but the same thing happens where I live, especially when it is about politics or religion, I believe it comes down to people having to defend their positions to the end otherwise they believe will have conceded they are fools who have been duped.

That's my dad. I've literally seen him start acting like a child and making fun of people who simply point out to him the hard facts that his "conservative" idol/God Ronald Reagan created the Mujahideen.

I have found the truth to be more important than some temporary feeling of getting duped in my 20ish years, Maybe it is harder for some people than me.I know the quicker you find out you were duped is better. Like if I was them I wouldn't want to go one more day under some illusion. The longer it was I had been fooled the more I would want to know the truth not less. Maybe I am just different than most people.

Yes, i thought something like that when I was in my 20's, your views change as you grow older.

A lot of older generations remember the internet as this new thing where criminal activity flourished long before social media and all that became a thing. To them the internet was demonized by the news they watch and looks like a wild west. depending on idealogy, you can either find a left wing or right wing broadcast to feed you whatever propaganda makes you feel good. Another part is it's fact that old age makes people more stubborn towards different views and new methods of doing things because they just lived a longer life and have a larger wealth of past experience which grounds a sense of what is reality and what is normal.

The Wikileaks is certainly proven over 10 years non-partisan facts, though. As an adult you should be able to absorb facts that don't sit well with you imho.

I once heard a great quote, something that I will now butcher with poor memory, but it goes something along the lines of "dont try to change the thinking of your parents, for they are set in their ways, instead, seek to empower the minds of the youth, for only they are willing to consider change"
