Math puzzle: Behind one of the three doors at a gameshow, is a prize. Which one should you choose?
There's no right answer for this question, but consider this problem proposed by Craig F. Whitaker, Columbia, Maryland:
Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors. Behind one door is a car, behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say #1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say #3, which has a goat. He says to you, "Do you want to pick door #2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice of doors?
The answer is: Yes, you should switch.
It seems counter-intuitive, and puzzled even well renowned mathematicians for a long time. This problem is known as The Monty Hall Problem, and when Marilyn vos Savant (an American who is known for having the highest recorded IQ according to the Guinness Book of Records proposed the solution to this problem, she got tons of feedback from the math community basically claiming she had lost her mind.
