The Golden Number 1.618 🌀 (a.k.a. the Phi Ratio) in Sacred Geometry.

in #mathematics8 years ago (edited)

The Golden Number, 1.618, or the Phi Ratio, is one of nature's most ubiquitous and beautiful mysteries. There are several great posts here on Steemit about all the incredible places to find the Golden Ratio, or the Fibonacci series in nature, or even in economics, art and architecture. Here is one from @bjornbm. Or here is one from @stranger27. Or another great post, by @krishtopa. But today, let's explore a few ways of finding this same number in some of the more prevalent shapes of "Sacred Geometry..." (All sketches are mine.)

The Phi ratio in the vesica piscis of 2 circles.

Fibonacci Spiral derived from the Golden Rectangle (left) and an infinite series of scaling Flowers of Life (right.)

1.618 derived from the Golden Triangle (left,) and vesica piscis (bottom middle.)

And here it is all over a Pentagon/Pentacle.

It's everywhere!

And just for fun!

This is just one of the reasons why Sacred Geometry is called "Sacred..."

Where else can we find it?! More to come!

Great post! I love the Golden Ratio. It shows up so much in fractals, choas theory, complexity theory and so much more. Here's a cool youtube video on how this stuff is used and shows up in Physics and Biology.

Enjoyed the vid! I love Nassim Haramein's lectures, they are mind bending! Thanks for your comment!
