Mathematics Statistics: Construct the relative frequency table of a set of numbers - Part 3

The relative frequency table of a set of numbers:

The relative frequency of an item is the ratio of the frequency of the item to the total number of all frequencies of the items in the set.

For example:

Draw a table showing the frequencies and relative frequencies for all the following data items:

First, we have to know what are the available items.

We have the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and so we place them on the item column.

Next, we have to find the total amount of items available.

We have 5 columns and 4 rows, so the total amount of items is 20.

Let's start by finding the frequency of the number 1.

We should count how many times the number 1 is available, which is 4:

Now, we need to find the relative frequency of the number 1 that is equal to the frequency over the total, so it is 4/20 (or 20%).
We do the same with the other numbers too:

Now try:

Form the frequency distribution table for the ages of 20 people, given below:

In Part 4, I will explain how to draw a histogram.

Interesting stuff

That is pretty cool :):) I can see how it can be applied to product sales relative to items sold however I'm sure are better real world applications. Ty!

And as You can see, the relative frcuency is nothing more and nothing less than: the probability, search for the definition of it and You will check that the definitions of both are the same.
