Did people lose their basic math skills ?
Again I'm disappointed. I was on facebook just a minute ago and some simple math riddle came up
10-10*10+10=???
You cannot imagine the answer. They even went up above 10k
How is it possible ? Those people have to fill in their taxes and drive cars. Maybe they are even working in the daycare of our children

From my school math training, I was taught BEDMAS, so in this case we have the following sequence to solve the equation.
3 -80 as the answer

I was taught BODMAS, which like E and includes "of". I prefer BEMA since there's no priority diffetence to DM and AS. But, at the expense of remembering you wotk left yo right and D and S are special cases of M and A respectively.
There is still hope for humanity !
There is also PEDMAS where the P is for parantheses versus B for brackets. Same thing though.

"Bitwise operations" are the important keywords in this approach.

Their bitwise multiplication (aka "logical and") is the following string:
0001001010
Their bitwise addition (=subtraction, aka "logical xor") is the following string:
1100110101
"Bitwise" means you perform the operation separately for each corresponding bit. The first bit of the first string is 0, the first bit of the second string is 1, their product is 0, and their sum is 1 - these are the first bits of the corresponding result bitstrings, and so on.
Note that 1+1 is defined as 0, i.e. you "overflow the bit value", although this is not even important for the problem at hand.

My pet theory is that basic arithmetic is like walking and calculators are like driving cars. In days of yore nobody had cars so they were great at walking. Now, cars and calculators are everywhere. But, for simple arithmetic problems, it's like driving to your neighbour's house. It takes much longer than just walking but people have become terrible walkers.
Interesting theory. Problem is this question is also that a calculator cannot help you.
Its like you can only drive a car but the road is too narrow to drive one.
We are getting into philosophy here :-)
