Update and Hint

I hope everyone has had some fun thinking about this little puzzle, simplify:     ux i   =   ?

It's been about 4 days since the launch of this contest. So far there have been 7 entries for the 2 SBD prize where you can just guess at the answer. And there have been 5 entries for the 3 SBD prize where you need to show a little algebra of how you arrived at your answer (guesses are ok here also.)

If you like, you can see the original contest post here:

Although when the "imaginary" number: √(-1) = i     is involved, it is common to use an "imaginary" plane, that is the (x, iy) plane, we are avoiding that here and keeping it "real".

The "real" plane that the math problem is contained in is the (x,y) plane.

[I haven't yet learned how to get the square root sign to have a line over the (-1) in steemit's markdown language. If anyone knows, please teach us in the comments.]

              HINT

Here is a little hint: If you like math and would like to understand how we can use the "real" (x,y) plane when playing with "imaginary" or complex numbers, I suggest you watch a 10 minute video I posted here on steemit 8 months ago.

https://steemit.com/mathematics/@point/imaginary-numbers-breakthrough-to-reality

If you watch the video to the end, you should be able to see for yourself if anyone has posted the right answer on our contest post. I will only reveal who the winners are (if there are winners) after the 7 days are finished.

Increasing awareness of the importance of how the "imaginary" number, i, is a part of our "reality" is the goal of this contest. Math is much more fun and much more important than most people realize.

Thank you for all the entrees.

Impressive!!!
dang I feel very sorry for my kinda aggressive and ignorant comment on ur post :(

It's totally ok. I was hoping for a variety of reactions.
No apologies necessary. I am happy to spread a little info not usually taught in school.

I plan to go a little more into it when I announce the winners in about 3 days.

Man I want more contests from you :)

Thanks, I appreciate that.

Wishing the whales liked math like we do, so the prizes could be much larger.
Math makes our high tech world possible, but math is not much appreciated by most people who seem to be looking for entertainment.
I guess that's one problem for the shrinks.

agree...
as always, marketing and business is dominating the world rather then solid science and math.
Kinda sad but that's how the world works

And don't forget the entertainment industry.

Too often genius scientists and mathematicians have to work for a boss that is not very sharp in science. Many times sharp scientists drop science and take up a better paying career that has much less of a beneficial impact on world but a much bigger income.
