[Marketing] Steemit 2017 Roadmap Visually Explained

Hey, I`m an analyst at @Steepshot project. Today I would like to unleash a number of sadness and fears around the Steem platform.

At the beginning of the year Steem management published a development roadmap for 2017.
Seeing the paper for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised both by the detail of its elaboration, and by the content. On a number of points we together with the team have repeatedly speculated. And Steemit offers a solution.

Unfortunately, now the situation looks something like this:

1) Steemit introduced painful for the community hardfork 18

2) The platform is not yet ready for mass adaptation right now

3) There are many fears about the future of the platform

What can I say in response:

1) Not everyone is aware of the difficulties that developers face now.

2) The Roadmap in detail is unlikely anyone studied (and worth it!)

Yeah. That is why I decided to spread some light on the situation.
So, what was planned and what is happening now in development? Let`s go through.

By creating this infographic I was completely sure that this is not enough to describe what is going on properly.

So, I decided to provide some FAQ.

Why does Steemit.com still look so poor and does not seem to be under development?

1. It only seems like this. One of the main indicators of the development of the project is the maturity of its repository on github.
2. Because it takes a lot of time to do everything that was discussed by the community . Just remeber, the development under the blockchain is complicated. At least the fact that no one has done this before.

Why wouldn`t developers make a beautiful and user-friendly interface?

This is not difficult to implement at all. But the new useful functionality will not add much. And it will distract the project from more important tasks and can make it potentially less competitive in the future. In addition, after significant changes to the platform, which are planned, the design will have to be strongly redone again.

But if Steemit does not actively involve new users, then soon the project runs the risk of failing, right?

It is unlikely. How much do you know of successful social networking projects on the blockchain? Yours.network, Synereo, Minds, Akasha? I would not want to criticize, but they objectively look like newborns.

Why do developers make so much effort to make services for other developers?

Because supporting the platform by a larger number of developers is the core element of future growth.
