Entry for Marketfriday
This morning while I was enjoying a cup of coffee and cruising my new morning paper, the @discord, @homesteading, @gamma, I came across a contest for marketfriday that is being sponsored by @dswigle. I haven't had any interaction with this person, but decided to go see what it was all about. Wow, her photos are awesome. It's 10 miles to my nearest market, no, wait, Alpine Market!! How could I forget it. I am headed to the post office anyway, it's only 4 miles away. So, while I waited on my fresh deli sandwich of turkey and provalone on a garlic onion bagett, I took pictures. This little store is really the life blood of our little community. It is family owned and carries everything from soup to fishing gear. It is surprising how much is crammed into this little store. They even carry old style household fuses. Hey we live in the sticks out here. :) I love this sign at the trail head.
Some places have a drug store Indian, we have a drug store cowboy.
As I say, this little store carries it all. They have a great beer selection and boy is it icy cold. All of us dread when Monday and Tuesday roll around and they are closed. We love our Rena.
These folks make their own jerky, and special pickles. In the fall they rent cooler room for the hunters to hang their game until they can get it to a processor. That's our little market.
I was so mortified when I came across your post today and realized that I had not upvoted it, I had just resteemed it so that it could get more eyes on it. I am so sorry and I can only promise it will never happen again.
It is very cool to have a small market so close to your house. I lived somewhere at one time that had one and it had such a great personality you just don't get in those large impersonal stores.
Thank you for sharing it with us and thank you so much for participating in #MarketFriday! Tip!
It can be the local gathering place at times. Don't worry please. The Re steeming is awesome and thank you for that. I haven't been able to vote much lately. There are so many good articles, and photos I find myself wanting to upvote every one of them. It was a fun contest.
Well, so you know, I upvote anyone who participates in my challenge. That is why I was disappointed. Last week, more than 15 people didn't post their link in the comment section, so I had to go search them down, which normally isn't too bad, but many tagged it wrong.
Have a wonderful #MarketFriday!
I may have been one of those. I will make a note to drop it on your page next week. Thank you for throwing the event.
Oh, my pleasure! Do I need to look for yours this week??? :)
I wish! I only go to town every couple of weeks, and never thought of taking pictures of it. lol I am going to the city, Ontario Oregon, next week with a friend. I will get some pictures then.
Nice little market!
Thanks to @fishyculture, this post was resteemed and highlighted in today's edition of The Daily Sneak.
Thank you for your efforts to create quality content!
Glad you enjoyed the article. It was fun putting it together.

Frog balls!! Did you test it? It can't be better than frog legs! :)
If you like brussel sprouts you will love them.. I have never tried frog legs. Sounds so cruel. :)
LOL I had to chuckle at frog balls I do admit
great Entry to the market friday challenge
Thanks, it was a snap call. :) glad you got a kick out of it.
i actually prefer rural small stores like this Yo the big chain stores they are more real
This little store has struggled over the years and has been closed off and on over that time. Since Rena took over, it has boomed. She is a friend to everyone that walks through the door. I just love her. They feature local handcrafted foods and jewelry.
thsts great is going well now and so cool they have like crafts
When we have extra eggs sometimes we take them to the store and she sells them for us.
thats great
Would get thstvwith any of the big stores would you
Frog balls are totally unexpected. I did not think there was such a thing ... This is #marketfriday, every time you have access to something special. Welcome!
they are actually pickled brussel sprouts. :)
LOL
I know! the names folks come up with to catch the eye and mind. Great marketing tactic. They can hardly keep them on the shelf!
That makes me giggle like a 12 year old. :)
I love little, hometown grocery stores. There are none left around here, at least that I know of. When we go on road trips we like to stop at the little mom and pop type markets we see.
I’ve don’t think I’ve ever heard of pickled Brussel’s sprouts...definately never heard of frog balls!! :D ... but they sound great. I think I’ll put them on my list of new things to try at harvest time. Thanks to Steemit, I’ve got a long list of things to try at harvest time.
@ powellx5 folks come up with all kinds of eye catching names don't they. lol I wanted to can up some carp, and call it Iowa Salmon one time. Might have sold a jar or two. lol
I’ll tell you what, if the Brussel’s sprouts turn out to be real good, and the label ‘frog balls’ keeps people out of them around my house, I’ll use it! Lol
lol Surely someone would recognize they were veggies. Do frogs even have balls? May have to google that. :)
LOL!
Frog balls. LOL!
The names folks come up with. lol
I love the Bigfoot crossing sign!
You have to watch out for them. Especially when they are shedding. lol
It's a good thing I don't live there, I guess. If one wound up on my porch cold, hurt and hungry, he'd wind up sleeping on my couch. That's how I got the guy I'm married to. You don't want to hear that story!
LMBO They could be cousins.
Frog balls😂😂
You made me stop and wonder how many markets I have in a four block radius.
little places we take for granted. I live in a rural community.
Yes! I follow @fishyculture and @longsilver too. I like reading your perspective :)
Im blushing:)
thank you. I'm just fumbling along here and hoping I don't miff anyone off. :)
