Market Friday: A Neighborhood Gift Shop
I am stoked to join everyone all over the world in today's #marketfriday- a tag initiated and hosted by the very charming @dswigle!
It was the birthday of a member of my staff yesterday, so I went to a "gift" shop the day before to get the appropriate present for her.
The advantage of going to these kinds of shops is that they carry a variety of items in a much smaller area [this one is smaller than my office] than a department store, and which often include all sorts of stuff and things appropriate for gifts!
Coffee mugs, hand towels, t-shirts, bathrobes, sweaters, cardigans, beanies, photo frames, blanket throws, stuffed toys, handbags...
Outerwear, fashion jewelry, scarves, table decor, wine glasses, beverage coasters, lamps, nightlights, candles, dessert plates...
Shirts, shawls, leggings, socks, handmade collections, Christmas decor, ornaments, etc., etc., etc..
And oh, this gift shop had snacks too!

My brother is an electrical engineer and wanted to change directions. Graduating as a nautical engineer from University today for that degree. He works designing warship stuff already, today is just the graduation. (he's 45 years old). A smart dude.
Wow... sounds like a very specialized field. Engineering in itself is a difficult course.. yes, he must be smart! am reminded of private contractor careers in the US military. Does he currently work for a private firm in Australia?

Yes, it's very specialised. Only 7 places in the world to gain the degree, and yes he works for a private firm. He is enjoying it and after all the work he has put in I'm glad for him.

Look slike such cool little stores, I much prefer small stores like this to big department stores where there is so much you can get lost and never find what your looking for
Exactly, @tattoodjay. I really like smaller stores and small business establishments owned by local entrepreneurs. And it saves one a lot of walking around a place that displays a rack full or a display stand, and shelves of the same thing. Have a wonderful weekend ahead, my friend, take care 🥰🌺🤙

I love to visit neighborhood shops or privately owned establishments. It is so much more rewarding to me, knowing that I am supporting the local economy instead of big business.
They always seem to have things for sale that I cannot find other places, and there aren't a hundred of them in the same size, color, shape, etc. Plus, I probably know the owners.
You are so sweet, joining the challenge and giving us a great post to go along with it. Don't be afraid to do one on a new piece of silver coming in! You know we would love to see one! Thanks again and I wish you a most wonderful weekend!
