South Korean Seafood Market - My 1st #marketfriday - Thanks @dswigle =)

South Korean Seafood Market
This is my first #marketfriday and I would like to thank @dswigle for coming up with the idea. Today I will walk you through a local seafood market not too far from where I live.
At first glance, it doesn't look like much and the smell was indeed way better than I expected. Everything is very fresh and even though there is a slight ocean smell in the air, it was kind of pleasing. You can see the floor is almost constantly wet, they keep it pretty clean and as fresh as possible.

Never ending tables overflowing with seafoody goodness!

Not all fish chill on tables though... See what I did there? =P
Some think it's better to get a birds-eye view and dry it out on a few sticks. Heard this is quite a popular way to preserve the fish's original shape. Later to be placed in the center of a fancy dinner table before being eaten.

I love seafood!
I saved the best for last.

Snowcrabs on the rocks, still moving a bit.

Most restaurants keep them in tanks outside their entrance. You can view them before they steam them.

This is more my type of seafood. Love these in spicy soupy Korean dishes. Look at those mussels though, they are huge! I have never seen mussels that big! They have been deshelled and some of them had this strange hair on them. Later after a google search, I found out that some mussels have beards that need to be removed before cooking.
The six legged freaks!
Yep, I said it, six! Apparantly the other two (total of eight tantacles) are seen and used as arms.

Sightly boiled, that's why it's curled up and the color change.

Look at the chair, now look at that octopus leg, look back at the chair, and one last time at the octopus leg, curse under my breath.
This is the end of our little journey through the seafood market. Hope all you Steemians liked it! Leave some comments and let me know what you guys think and what your favorite seafood dishes are. =)
I know what you all are thinking, this king crab is trying to escape! Nope, he is simple waving goodbye and wishing all of you a happy #marketfriday and a wonderful new year!

See you at the next #marketfriday!

Thank you for reading! Steem on Steemians!

Check out new tipuvote! feature :)
That food looks delicious although seeing all those big octopuses might get @cryptoctopus a little mad
Did you buy some?
In the end I didn't buy any. Had a big lunch a few minutes before visiting the market. Decided to just check it out and I was pretty happy with the experience. Will get some cool recipes and then go buy some. =)
@cryptooctopus? Hmmm... hope not. =P
That was fabulous! I want to go to this seafood market! I am not sure I have ever seen such huge mussels in my life.
Okay, I love mussels. And snow crab. And lobster. And clams. I am pretty sure if it swam for a living, I claim it for dinner.
You did such a wonderful post for #MarketFriday! I loved strolling through the market with you. Everything looked so fresh and inviting. I love that the fishy smell was kept to a minimum. I do love my seafood, but, that seafaring smell means it is not quite as fresh as it could be. So kudos to them!
Thank you for taking the time and effort to put together this awesome post! It was a pleasure to read!
Please remember to post your link in my comment section of my #MarketFriday post. It makes it easier to locate all of them for everybody to view! Thank you!

I remember this place 13 years ago! Looks like it hasn't changed a bit. I'm sure it still stinks to high heaven. The smells coming out of there almost choked me out in some isles. With my Korean girlfriend at the time, we bought two king crabs. They were crawling around the bathroom floor until we put them in the pot! Was quite an experience.
Great post my friend.
Here is the post that I've been talking about.
Thank you! -Dan

Resteemed! From me and Qurator!
The market is crazy cool and honestly I think the smell is ok, guess they all look the same but some are managed a bit better.
Haha, OMG that must have been a sight seeing them crawl around the bathroom floor! Now I know where to put mine before I boil them. =)
Awesome post and thanks again for mentioning Qurator! =)
Thanks so much buddy! You know what, after taking a closer look at the photos of the market here. It looks like they have remodeled and cleaned the place up A LOT! I'm sure it smells much much better now. Back in 2003 Korea had much more of third world vibe. This country has come a long way in a hurry. Again thanks for the support/resteems, and sharing this very cool post! Have a great day! -Dan
Idk what it is today but this is the second Korean food themed post on my feed this morning! @flipstar had a great post about this Korean Barbeque spot he hit up recently!
Not gonna lie I was more freaked out than anything haha But it was cool learning about bearded mussels and the reason octopi turned red haha!
I know right! Was a learning experience for me as well. Bearded mussels, sounds funny every time!
Hmmm... Korean food is awesome, you should really try it. =)
it such a nice place with everything
Very nice indeed! =)
Welcome!!!!! Yes, the smell is something that scares me away from the fish markets :))) wow! a huge choice !!!!! I also love seafood. but in Israel they can be bought only in certain places since they are not considered kosher according to the law of the country. Oh no! I could not have eaten such an octopus :)))
Yeah, that octopus could feed a whole family!
Really not available everywhere. That is quite strange. =/
I’ve never had octopus before. They are just so creepy with that many legs filled with suction cups! They do gain such a beautiful color after being cooked though.
They might look all creepy and gross but trust me they are delicious!
