I thought this would make for a somewhat different Market Friday. I hope @dswigle doesnt mind reaching a bit out of the box on this one lol. Thanks Denise for all the work you do on Market Friday!
So many people know, but just in case there is a new-to-my blog person here, let me explain my situation. I live on a nice lake here in Michigan in a decent house. I love the lake and I love the house. HOWEVER there is the major problem of the weather.
Every day from basically October till May is cold, wet and grey...every, single, day! Hence the Old Guy is planning to eventually move south to Virginia. We went there for a vacation this summer and found a lovely lake that has the nicest people EVAR!!!
So I need a house that is cheap so I can move all my stuff into while this house sells. I know convoluted, right? No worries, the Old Guy has a master plan for world domination...its a process and a journey!
So here is a lil gem. My daughter is dying for a cute historic house. Now the Old Guy is one to be accommodating, I just am not sold on the charm of an old house no matter if you call it historic or not.

Maybe it could work. I am missing my house already LOL....

Well it is old, I will say that much! Even a slate roof!

Looks to be pipes wrapped in asbestos. Yikes.
Well back to the old drawing board... but hey, I will be sure to bring you along.

I'm surprised you can still legally sell them with asbestos in them like that. Ugh !
Exactly! I hear many banks wont finance them.

House hunting is tough and can be depressing. Have you thought about building new? Also, have you thought about your own future in this house? As you get older, the stairs will be less and less inviting.
We had to sell our dream house – which we built new – because I couldn’t get up and down the stairs any longer. That was a crushing realization and I still haven’t gotten over losing my beautiful home.

Whatever you do ... steer clear of asbestos! The cost of rehab (always uncertain) could turn your new digs into a White Elephant.

Asbestos? No bueno! You'll find something and it will all come together in its own time.
