Manga OneShots - Some Interesting Oneshots I Have Read #3

in #manga7 years ago (edited)

If you're looking for a short 10-minutes of enjoyment, manga Oneshots are one of the best bets out there. I started reading more and more of them to learn by examples how to end a story in few pages. And that's why I'm making lists of Oneshots I enjoyed.

This posts where I talk about some interesting manga One-Shots I found. Because these manga are short, they have different charm than manga series or the short fiction.

A Manga One-Shot is Basically a short story (usually less than 60 pages) that is self-contained. When you read a one-shot you don't need any other related work to understand it and it should feel completed by it's own.

So In this list, All these one-shots are interesting ones I came across.

I'll also include two and three-shots as I consider them One-shots too.

Ability Shop

by: Tetsuya Tashiro

Toshiki the boy who can't do anything and given the title "inept", finds one day a shop that sells abilities. not believing at first he asked for ability "to study well". The shop keeper took some of his life as a payment.... seeing that it works Toshiki decided to buy as many abilities as he can so he can live as capable person.

This Oneshot is dark, and isn't the protagonist a normal "useless" boy you'd find in another manga.... Oh!! and the creator is the artist (not the author) of Akame Ga Kiru.

Flying Witch (Pilot)

by: Chihiro Ishidzuka

One day Akira's found his classmate "flying" with a broom in the roof of the school, she told him she's a witch and they spent the day together... Until she needed to kill him to get . and the chase begins.

This Oneshot is very different than the actual series with the same name, especially the characters. It's also cheerful story with a good ending and have that "our-world-is-still-fine" feel of the series.

Debu to Bejin

(The Beauty and the Fatty)

Rena is a woman with "issues", like was three timing guys. and only having games to come back to. She takes the same train as the fatty man who can't do his job right, and is treated badly by everyone, and his only happiness is the time he sees her from afar in the train.... One day she slept in the train, and seeing that no one is there other than him he wakes her up. She decides to "use him" for a day.

This one shot is so realistic, and while I don't agree with the heroine personality... I still relate to some of things happening... And who won't like a story about a gamer girl?

Ai Kara Hajimaru

(Staring from Love)

by: Moe Yukimaru

This one is a three shot. about a Sakura Ai a girl who finds the phone of her classmate in front of sunflower-bed she takes care of. she had crush on him in grade school so she avoided him. When he knew she's in the school he started looking for her, and their story begins.

It's a normal love story... But I like how little drama it has.

In The Previous Post:

Koe no Katachi, Tell me A lie, Dear Green, Fire Tripper

In The Post Before that:

My Hero, Death Note, Naruto and Aru Asa

well, some of these oneshots were popular... but if I did post about this again I'll probably post more obscure ones. As I said before I wish there was a group that translates Treasure contestants. But well, they're all amateurs, even if one of them could be the next Kishimoto Masashi in ten years.

I hope you have enjoyed this post. Tell me if you want more of it :)

And by the way there's this steemit-anime Discord group, they can really use more members:

I personally liked TokiDoki and Hotel: since 2079 as well. Those are pretty much the only one-shots I've read though. I usually avoid one-shots over fear that there is simply not enough time for actual story development but upon reading your review, I feel like giving Ability Game a try.

yeah, the only weak points on onshot that they can put both a good story and a good chracter development in these 30-80 pages.

But Ability Shop is great, and there's another good one too (Hero Killer) that I want to talk about in the next post... By the way some of the One-shots I mention in my posts, are the pilot for a series with the same name.

That's cool! I've already added Ability Shop to my MAL Plan to Read list. I'll have to complete my 2017 Manga Challenge first though XD

Hi, I posted the next post by now.... highlighting the Oneshot "Hero Killer"
