My Second Design For A 3D-Printed Phone Tripod Bracket!steemCreated with Sketch.

in #maker8 years ago (edited)

A few weeks ago I designed and made a 3D-printed phone tripod bracket, the screw was too weak and it snapped, so I went to work on a second design [click here for the first design post].

In re-designing the second version I wanted to get rid of screws and instead use a spring mechanism to hold the phone in place.

The new design consists of two pieces that fit together with guiding rails, and holes to fit a rubber band through, acting as the spring mechanism.

The left is what it would look like normally, and the right is when two pieces are pulled apart.

Screw thread for mounting on a tripod goes here:

Various views of the new phone tripod bracket:

Here's an animation showing the actual printed and assembled pieces, along with the fitted rubber band, where I pull it apart and let go, showing how the smaller piece snaps back into place!

And here is the new bracket in action, holding my phone and mounted onto a mini tripod!

Very cool. Wonder if there is a better way than a rubber band to hold it in place? Hmmmm. If I think of something I'll let you know.

anyway to make an adjustable screw type assembly like on the wrenches that open and close?

There should be ways to design without using rubber band, but I think it is fast to operate using a spring-type mechanism :)

很嫉妒啊!有3D列印機可以玩

Creative enough, now find a better looking rubber band setting haha

Thanks :)
