Of Two Headed Pigs and Man.

  • @sammosk With a crunch of glass the detective bust through the door, on the other side waited...

  • @juliakponsford a very small man holding a baby pig. It was sleeping quietly in his arms and had two perfectly formed heads.

  • @misterakpan Many surreal things detectives have to face on a typical day, but a pig with two heads was one Detective Akpan hadn't seen in his fifteen years rising through the ranks of the county's inspection department.

  • @randomness Not to be deterred by the unexpected visual of a man holding a mutated pig, Detective Akpan opened up his inspector's case full of various instruments and forms and audibly sighed "Let's get this party started."

  • @deemarshall As he opened his case the pig with two heads wriggled free! Please help me, he screamed but, alas, the pig had departed.

  • @sammosk Distracted by the scream of the pig to notice the second shadowy figure, Detective Akpans vison lurched to the side as he moved, scattering the tools of the trade about, "You don't belong here" echoing in the dim light.

  • @ellievallie The true pig lay in wait in the shadows. From behind the curtain, a two headed man stepped, his fat ruddy cheeks mirrored on his second visage. "No," the stranger said, "It is you who should not be here."

  • @deemarshall "I belong everywhere", the figure said.
"Pigs with two heads are lucky.
It is hiding in the shed."
Catch it quick before it gets mucky!"

  • @sammosk The odd little rhyme
    It bounced in time
With little voice sitting in head.
    Don't drop the dime,
    I'll get in the grime.
And pig will get lucky instead!

This was the winning thread from the previous game, congrats to you all, I will be excluding myself from the prize and sending it now.

You have to reply to this post with a sentence telling a story that is a 2-3 sentences at most.

The next entry should be a to reply to that comment. The winning thread will be the longest one with the most responses.

Part of the challenge is, you must upvote each and every number before you in the chain.

Keep that in mind if you want to enter in story chains additional times.

To make them longer you must update your votes that you missed.

I imagine it will go a little something like this.

  • #1 leaves a comment with a sentence that tells a story or rhymes.

  • #2 turns up, replies to that comment with another, votes #1.

  • #3 turns up furthering the story and votes #2 and #1, etc.

  • #4 furthers the story but doesn't vote, this is a potential dead chain and you should reply to the comment higher up the chain to continue it if you wish to heal the chain.

  • #1 turns up to go one step further but can't due to dead chain, and so replies to #3 and votes #2 and #1 which will put this chain back into an 'alive' state. :)

remember there could be multiple stories going on at any time!!

So lets start those threads people!

The winner will be announced in 1 week when this post matures and 10 SBD will be used as the prize to award to all participants of the winning chain so feel free to spread the word.

If you would like to donate towards the winners feel free to do so by upvoting resteeming or sending in an SBD donation with the memo "StoryChain".

Depending on how this works out I may publish a few of them next week if that's okay.

One thing I'd like to see if we can make participating in the comments section to be valued as much as the post itself, this would be interesting to me so lets see if we can pull it off!! Make participation it's own reward!

Thanks for participating in this week long experiment!

I had a very good giggle at the last outcome! Lets see if we can write more of a short story this time!

Much love.

10% of the SBD from this post is pledged and will be donated to the @msp-makeaminnow account as ongoing support.

Sort:

The air shivered like a thousand tiny crystals as the roar broke across the plain.
Dust stirring from the soundless vibration, reality shimmered, and tore as the horde poured through.
Tens of thousands of minuscule rifts gaped through the entire nation and millions died in the first few moments. The Invasion Had Begun.

It was the worst of all the horrors that humans had ever dreamed of in Science Fiction. Self Aware nanotechnology had brought war to the nations of humanity. The horde worked as a singular element, a cloud of tiny death, seeking out any organic material to consume, breaking down to it's carbon base. Carbon that could be used to increase the horde.

It was relentless, never slept, never paused in its haste to consume every last piece thing it could attach itself to. Fortunately, it didn't have any staying power and would constantly require nourishment.

Unfortunately, we were the food, so soft, so squishy, like a peach ripe for the plucking.

When the time came to choose who got to leap into space before the cloud of death came for us all, the culling.. it was.. horrific.

The old sea time adage of women and children first went out the window. No, future propagation of the species would depend on the scientists and the military. Those who could figure out how to battle the horde.

Children wept as parents were pulled away to the ship. The high pitched buzz of the oncoming horde growing louder by the moment, until it even overwhelmed the screams of parent and child being torn from each other.

The lucky ones were the ones who died when the rockets lit and they were consumed by fire.

As the lucky passengers stared down at the bodies of their loved ones being consumed by the rocket’s flames, there was an overwhelming sigh of heartbreak, yet also of relief…for a moment. As they barreled into space, the horde that had been progressing on their position seemed to have sped up. The fire seemed to excite them, almost feed them.

As they watched, the horde nearly double in size in a fraction of a second.

All that he could hear was the pulsating of his heart in his veins, almost as if time were slowly ticking along, as he stared down at the madness he could not yet register.

Timothy turned away from the window, now filled with blackness and the small blue orb which was no longer home to him. The trauma of the whole situation gave his eyes a glazed over look as he gazed up the corridor of the ship which was all that was left of humanity.

Five Thousand Souls. That was all that remained of the billions of people who had populated the planet falling behind them. Oh, some were still alive, but not for long with the horde moving over the planet.

Timothy began to walk down the hallway toward the commissary. A small black speck, what could generously be called a speck of dust, sat in the corner of his eye. A speck that bides it time, resisting the urge to eat and consume, knowing that it has to wait, to rebuild.

As Timothy headed down the hallway, someone shouted behind him. He was barely paying attention and although the voice stood out a bit it sounded muffled & faint. A hand touched his shoulder from behind. "Sir".

Timothy turned around to see Keith, one of the most promising Attack pilots, and one of the only ones that made it on the ship. "Sir, they need you in the boardroom." Keith said. "Yes of course", Timothy said while he followed quickly behind, shrugging his mentally distraught feelings that were consuming him just a moment ago.

They approached the boardroom. Entering confidently Timothy said "Alright, let's get to it". As the hours passed, different plans were formulated and discussed. Whilst they conferred with each other, unsuspecting and very tiny sensors were not only hearing but sharing their discussions with each other across vast distances.

The Horde was small when it came to it's presence on the ship. But it was mighty. It sat in the corner of Timothy's eye, consuming only enough to survive as it watched and waited.

Over time it created replicants, only a few, and none stayed. As each was created, it worked it's way out of Timothy's body, and to a surface where it could latch onto a new host.

Soon dozens of people were walking around the ship, each with a small black speck hovering in the corner of an eye.

Microscopically. The galaxy located on the head of the pin shivered against the floral fabric it held together. The tower rose from the middle of the pin, a princess huddling inside.

It was foretold, of course, in every ancient language, that she'd be facing this alone in the end, but by Gods, the timing of the thing.... She was not ready, not at this precise moment, her cheeks still flushed from the very first tingly touch of his lips against hers. Her mind awash in something she did not yet know what to make of

scrolling through his phone
FRANTICALLY!
"it has to be here!!"

I'm sure I dumped my keys in a text or something.

C'mon c'monn, how hard is it to find a damn message on this iflown.

I'm never going to get to Steem fest @swelker101 and @gmuxx.

An angry voice startled him.
'Going out again?' she moaned, 'I see nothing of you these days.'
He nearly dropped his phone and felt more frustrated than ever.

"Mother, im 48 years old! You have to let me live my life - Im not your slave and im going to Steemfest whether you like it or not!" he shouted, storming out the door, grabbing his power ranger pushbike on the way.

"Dont forget your helmet" She yelled back

"Unfortunately I have a problem with censoring myself. I'm who I am. And if you don't like who I am and what I'm doing, and I'm okay with it. Who really has the problem here?" Came the calm voice from 'The Table', a creaking as shadowy figures settled into luxurious padding.

I couldn't find the owner of the voice.
The voice seemed feminine, I haven't spoken to a girl since forever.

And more importantly, the voice came from the 'Table', there's no one else in the room.

Nothing alive except me and that small insect, and it can't talk can it? even if my dad used to tell me he talks with insects all the time.

He watched the fat one, sweat beading on his weak, flabby chin and dripping down his neck. He watched the trails of it, as if it were drool from an ill-bred infant. 'Bloody plebs, all,' he thought, reaching into his very depths for a smile. "So, Don Agalione. Shall we?"

He looked at where the light came from, and saw pure white wings. He didn't know if these shining wings on her back were real or not.

would it be rude to ask about them?
That kind of thing was very uncommon around here.
He had only ever read of such beauty in books.

He just stood there staring at the beauty and thinking if he should ask.

What if he asked her and it was all his imagination? What if she hated him? Why would he care she if hated him? His mind started going in a weird direction.

He blinked, the pre-dawn light shimmering off the things, translucent dust motes in the desert-like. Nope. Still there. He could see each feather, delicate, and almost glowing, as if lit by something from the inside. He took one step to her....

"Um...execuse me?" he finally said to her, not having experience talking to girls at school

She looked at his direction and gasped and took a step back. "Wh- what are these?"

He couldn't understand her frightned expression. But she pointed at the nothingness behind his back and said "Are these wings real?"

"Look, We've been here before, take care of it"
Said baaz gruffly, throwing the roll of cash across the room "You know what to do"
"Nah mate, he's a friend, we can't do this again, our mates keep going missing..." Kev frowned, eyeballing his ever eager baaz, reluctant to put much stock in even the money he held in his hand.

"This isn't like the last time," said Kev "you've got to know how tired I am of wrestling. The mud gets everywhere."
baaz pulled up a chair next to Kev.
